Anyway, I'm not saying that the gold medalist isn't deserving and shouldn't be recognized at all. Of course not. There's usually great reasons as to why that skater won the gold over the other skater. However, I don't like it when fans then say "so and so" failed to win the gold when it really came down to a judge or two and his/her own personal opinion or interpretation of the program and scoring.
Even with the discretion given to judges with GOE and PCS, and with the callers on levels, rotation, and edge calls, I do think COP is great in that it gives people a hard number to look at. You can then say "so-and-so" beat this skater by 10 points in the LP and the rules back them up even if the fans have a real problem with the scores.

I find quite strange to see so many voting for YuNa Kim as the best in the quad 2011-2014 as she competed only 3 times. To be the best in a quad you have to be there more than 3 times
Not really. If you only compete 3 times and yet still achieve as much or more than anyone else who competed all quad in just 3 competitions, it just makes it even more glaringly obvious you were the best. Who was better. Kostner who competed all quad and only managed 1 world title like Kim (and won with a way weaker set of performances) and won a lower Olympic medal, but more world medals so achieved about the same. Asada who didnt medal at the Olympics and managed only 1 world gold and 1 world bronze, so achieved less. This despite that they competed all quad, and Kim barely did and still did as much or more than they did.
What is much stranger as the few people who picked someone other than Kim as the best of 2007-2010. Not sure what those people are smoking.
