Zhang Hao is getting married 5/1

    http://sports.sina.com.cn/o/2014-04-...27141835.shtml

The bride's name is Ju Chi, from Harbin

Apparently they have been dating for 10 years (without his coach knowing, according to the article)

Shen/Zhao dated in secret for quite some time, and Pang/Tong probably did as well. IIRC dating isn't allowed in the dormitories - though I'm sure it happens all the time anyway.

I have always thought Hao to be really cute!

TEN YEARS without his coach knowing. Wow. He could probably find work as a spy if he wanted to. Congratulations to them.

Congrats to them! When I scanned the board I read it as "Hongbo Zhao" and was like WAIT what happened there? Oof, time for bed.

The rat tail is gone, right? He won't be wearing it in his wedding pictures.

Zhang Hao has always been my favourite Chinese male skater because of his sense of humour and personality, as well as his skating. He's good looking too, although not so much in the photo announcing his forthcoming marriage.

I certainly wish him well in the future with his marriage and his career.

And ahead of P&T! disrupting the pecking order just like at 2006 Olympics :LOL

I wonder if he will invite Zhang Dan to the banquet

I wonder whether he will still compete? When I think of S/Z and P/T waiting until they retired from competition to marry, I wonder if that is a rule in the coaching group. Maybe he's like the third child -- the parents lighten up!
I think I will have a snack and take a nap before I eat and go to sleep.

Oh dear, and I was thinking how nice it was to read about a Chinese skater havng a private life. I would think as his partner is not skating with him, it should be less problematic to Hongbo and Bin Yao. Congratulations and many happy years, Hao!

The article said that he would have to leave his bride soon after marriage to prepare for next season.

Fyi the bride isnt from his training camp. She has a job at Diaoyutai State guesthouse

The article says his bride has always been very supportive toward his training and they never once fought in the last 10 years. It also says that she did a lot to help little Peng Cheng settle down in Beijing when Peng first arrived, buying her clothes and other everyday articles. Wow! So kind of her and so very happy for them!

ETA: the article also states that Zhang plans on competing through 2018, and that would be his 5th Olympics!

I missed that part before (the rather rough Google translation partially to blame)! Talk about knowing how to keep a secret! Good for him.
