According to an interview posted on her official? fan blog Kana Muramoto is happy to start her career as an ice dancer. She aims at making a S Korean Olympic team. (Sorry in Japanese http://satsuki-kana.jugem.jp/?eid=470) Her newly partner is Hirokazu Noguchi. Hirokazu Noguchi and Nana Sugiki split. Sugiki/Noguchi skated in Junior Nationals in 2012 but not in 2013. Here's the result. (English: http://www.jsfresults.com/National/2...l_jr/index.htm) Article on Absolute Skating. http://www.absoluteskating.com/index...uniornationals

BTW I loved her sister Satsuki Muramoto's skating too but it's a shame she retired a couple of years ago. And she's working as a coach in Thailand. It's nice to see that she's enjoying coaching kids there. Muramoto sisters seem brave enough to start something new.

I am very happy to hear that Bourne and not Wilson did Hanyu's FS choreography this time. She seems to be quite creative and has made a number of stylish, interesting programs.

Why does she aim at making a S Korean team when both seem Japanese and Japan does not have that many ice dancers?

I was confused when I first read that, too, before I realized rosewood meant 2018 Olympic team going to Korea.

Thanks for the additional info, rosewood! It's great to hear that Muramoto/Noguchi will continue to train with coaches Wing and Lowe in Vancouver.

From an Italian article posted in late April in the Italian dance news thread:
Andrea Fabbri, the younger brother of Marco, has been trying out with Japan's Misato Komatsubara:
"The tests carried out in recent weeks under the direction of Barbara Fusar Poli have provided very positive feedback, but at the moment it is not yet known to what country Komatsubara / Fabbri can choose to compete."

Hanyu is in Japan now to perform in FaOI Makuhari this weekend. He'll be doing shows every weekend from now to mid July. He attended JOC ceremony this afternoon and was awarded JOC Sports Award. He was honored as the most excellent athlete of the year.

Miki Ando is gonna make her debut on a TV series. It's a comedy drama and Miki plays a supporting role as a clerical staff.

According to this article, Jeffrey Buttle choreographed Hanyu's SP. He will show his new program at DOI, June 27-29. (It doesn't say which one though.)

So weird to not have Mao competing on the GP this year...first time since she turned senior (nearly 10 years!).

I'm glad Kanako isn't retiring. For a while there I was wondering if she would. I don't know if she'll stick around the entire quad but I'm glad she's staying in at least one more year.

I've copied NMURA's national team post above and started a new thread for Japan competition news in 2014-15: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/show...m-news-updates

    Next show in Japan:

^ Javier Fernandez and Tomas Verner are also part of the cast as guest skaters. Miki Ando is as well, but she's going to skate on the second day only

Tatsuki Machida was invited to a pro-baseball game between his hometown(Hiroshima where he grew up) team and another one. He was invited as a guest commentator on a local broadcast. This is a hearsay but I heard that during the broadcast he said he wants to participate in the next Olympics if any chance. I'm so glad that he's willing to continue competing after the next season. I assume one of the reasons is that his financial situation is getting better. He's invited to many shows after Worlds and now he's even invited to events out of figure skating, such as this pro-baseball game and a pro-football match(He's invited to a match as a guest in July. They'll have Machida's small talk show before the match and also he'll participate in the 'kick-in' ceremony. Also the organizer announced they sell a hundred 'Machida seats' for his fans. http://www.sanfrecce.co.jp/news/release/?n=7153 ). Good for him.

This is awesome news and really made my day, he has been such a joy to follow the last couple of seasons. I couldn't believe when i found out he didn't have any endorsements/appearances in shows. It really makes me sad when skaters decide to leave their skating career, because they can't afford it. hope the extra competitive years will help him get much financial support and success.
