Right now, Hanyu is appearing in the victory parade in his hometown Sendai.
It's spectacular to see over 100,000 people on the road.

I'm sure his victory encouraged/inspired people there including the Great Earthquakes and Tsunami victims.

And yes, galaxy, hope he'll take a rest after these official evens finished.

I would have expected that to change during this season, especially with Kozuka hit or miss since 2011 and Takahashi getting older and suffering injuries. I hope he gets multiple offers, since no one snatched him up right after Saitama.

Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon: Hanyu "Aiming at piling up good results"

    http://mainichi.jp/sports/news/20140...40127000c.html
    (my rough translation)

It was announced Yuzuru Hanyu(19) who won the gold medal at Sochi Olympic was awarded Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon as of April the 28th. "My understanding is people who dedicated to not only sports but overall development of our country are awarded this medal. I feel highly honored to it so I'll try my best aiming at piling up good results," said Hanyu. The first Japanese male figure skater who won OGM is template and facing his future as a skater.

He was born in Sendai city and started skating at the age of 4. His hometown was affected by the East Japan Great Eathquakes and Tsunami on March 11th, 2011. He lost his base rink and also experienced staying at shelters. However, the days of struggles strengthened his body and soul.

About 9,200 people came and see his victory parade in Sendai city on April 26th. "I wish we can remind people of the current situation of our town and also Fukushima by doing our bests." He keeps improving just as if his skating overlaps his thoughts on repose of souls.

Copying from my post on 'Despite success, Yuzuru Hanyu says there is room for improvement' thread on GSD.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaNYfxCZPnA

In the beginning of the video, Hanyu made a thank-you speech. "I'm very honored to see such a big crowd come to see the victory parade. I couldn't even dream of winning OGM. (...chacked...) Hope I could remind many people of the affected area Sendai, Miyagi pref, by winning the medal," he said.

    ETA:
He's really busy in this off season again. Well, he's been very busy with shows even after loosing his base rink in Sendai becase of the disaster. Wish he'll stay healthy and take a rest before the intensive preparation for the next season starts.
    Coming shows confirmed so far.

But with the new scoring rules, I am afraid her scores will be much much lower.

That list means almost nothing if you talk about Mao. She hasn't decided yet so she's not out of it.

Sylvia, is that you who wanted to know about Kento Nakamura's retirement? This is his last skating as a competitive skater at 'Four University Competition'. Nice to see a big smile from him at the very end of his career. Also it's nice to see him supported by many friends and fans there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtQijlNZY-8

^^^ Yes, thank you very much for Nakamura's video (FS to Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5), rosewood! It was great to see how loudly people were cheering for him, before and after his skate, and his big smile afterwards!

Nakamura tweeted this message and group photo on May 4:
    16年間のスケート人生が終わりました!皆さんのお陰で、本当に忘れられない最高の引退試合になり ました!
    ここまで支えてくれた家族、先生、友人、ファンの方々に心から感謝します!ありがとうフィギュ アスケート! http://pic.twitter.com/FLzRhsmyv7
We had this exchange in the Retirements thread on April 4:

The annual intercollageate competition will be held on May the third(17:45-22:45) in Osaka(at Rinkai Sports Center). It's a small competition(only four universities participate). He is supposed to graduate from Rikkyo University this month but I cant confirm it. I heard he wants to be a business man but I can't confirm what he's going to do after his retirement either so far. He'll announce sooner or later.

My life of 16 years as a skater has finished. This competition will stay in my mind forever as the best stage of my retirement. Thank you very much for your support, everyone! I'm very grateful to my family, coaches, friends and fans who supported me till today! Thank you, figure skating!

In the photo they(maybe they're Rikkyo Univ students) have a banner and it says "THANK YOU very much for your wonderful skating, Kento-kun!" It's nice to see them all, very heart-warming.
