How do you post from one thread to another?

Is it possible to quote a post from a thread that is already closed into a new thread and then post in the new thread? If yes, how?

    Thanks in advance.

Best done with two open tabs:

    1. Highlight and copy text
    2. Click on the quote button or add the [*quote*] tags on your own
    3. Paste text into quote tags
    4. Edit quote tag to read [*QUOTE=nameofposter]
    5. Post

    Advanced
Click the #number in the top right corner of the post, copy the number that now shows up at the end of the url
add that to original quote tag [*QUOTE=Nameofuser;Postnumber]

This adds that little arrow that takes you back to the original post when you click it.

Example from the closed reputation FAQ thread
