I am a little surprised to hear that Patrick was polishing Best of Me with David Wilson because I thought that program was Jeffrey Buttle's choreo. But maybe Jeffrey doesn't mind David polishing his choreographies.

I did some detective work around it and my assumption is that Patrick was flying from Ottawa to Toronto because the golf tournament he went to with Scott Moir took place in Ottawa and the RMHC Board Meeting he made an appearance at was held in Toronto according to the tweets I've read.

He is clearly having loads of fun.

Thanks VarBar for 'solving the mystery' of the plane.

Clearly, baby and Patrick go well together. This bub is simply adorable .... like Patrick. However, not too sure about Patrick being a potential rugby player!!!

Well, this is the right place!

This photo and another similar one were posted originally in the 2013 Artistry on Ice thread in GSD : http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/show...=1#post3938693

Patrick seen at Compass Restaurant with two lovely ladies.

The Next Level interview - Patrick Chan:
Patrick Chan admits he was once a bit of a wild child. Of course, for Chan, having been “very wild” just means he was a figure skater in it for the thrill of big jumps. “I never showed really great talent,” he says of his early days in the sport. “It wasn’t like someone scouted me when I was eight years old and said, ‘You’re going to be world champion.’”

What fuelled Chan’s rise in the junior ranks of figure skating—one of many sports he tried as a kid—was the joy of learning new tricks. He was always at the rink with a smile on his face, and technical gains came quickly. Mastering new spins, different footwork and especially bigger jumps—going from a double Axel to a triple Axel, say—gave him a sense of accomplishment. But his emphasis on those jumps above other techniques was antithetical to the control, grace and variety required of an elite figure skater. Thankfully, one of his first coaches, Osborne Colson, taught him the value of discipline and determination. “I had no structure,” says Chan. “He brought a lot of structure to my training and my programs.”
It is lucky of Patrick to have a Colson as a coach otherwise, we wouldn't be watching Patrick Chan now.

So does anyone know where Patrick is supposed to be next? Doesn't he have the Ice show in Japan coming up the end of July? I guess he has some time off until then. I sure hope he comes back after his break. I believe that no one can come close to his brilliant work. It would be a shame for him to quit in his prime. I'm sure we'll see him back though. Happy Canada Day to all you Canadian posters!

Patrick is supposed to be taking part in The Ice in Japan starting on the 19th. There is a thread here so I'm hoping we will get some pictures, reports and maybe even video!

Here is a video of Patrick's "Best Of Me" program from The Ice, and then Patrick & Jeffrey skate together to "Elegy". Watch it quick before it gets taken down!

Maybe this successful collaboration will inspire Jeffrey to choreograph a full program for him and Patrick - maybe for next year's Canadian Stars on Ice? I sure hope so as these two seem to be a great match on the ice.

I heard that Patrick also skated a tango in Japan - this has to be his tango shirt: http://cache3.asset-cache.net/gc/452...2bGek7VQ%3d%3d - but I don't think they've broadcasted it. Hopefully it doesn't mean we'll never get to see this new number. Anyone happen to know what piece of music he uses for this tango?

I thought that Patrick's best ever skate as a junior competitor was his SP from 2006 Junior Worlds that I found on youtube. It never crossed my mind to save that video to my computer because I (wrongly) assumed it would stay on youtube forever but unfortunately the channel user took it down after a while and I could never find that performance again anywhere.

Watching clips like this help me to keep things in perspective. Yes, it would be wonderful if a Canadian man had won that elusive Olympic gold medal and I sure wanted it for Patrick. On the other hand, Canadian men have done so much for skating - Toller, Brian, Kurt, Elvis, Jeff, Shawn, Patrick (I may be missing some)
and they continue to share their talents with the world. Anyway, I feel very fortunate to have been a fan for all these years. Someday, I hope to own a Toller skating painting and display it prominently in my home.

I can't get that tango shirt picture to come up. I hope we get to see it if he really skated a tango program! I have seen quite a few more off-ice pictures on twitter today of the gang (and Patrick) eating, playing soccer, just generally having a great time in Japan.

    Sayaka @ torosaya · Jul 20

Tango Patrick, in black lace shirt black pants capitalist costume ...! Breath has stopped. When the interface, I thought to return to wonder if I take longer, but if you look at the tango, we have to think and I think we come back ... National. Unlike tango that was passion passion of those days, it was a tango of an adult man with hidden with less.

    https://twitter.com/torosaya

Sayaka wrote her tweet in Japanese and since I don't speak the language, I ran it through the Google machine. It's such a lame translation that I'm not even sure if I should take the tweet as a positive or a negative comment of Patrick's program/performance but a tango I do think he skated though.
