fscric, if you check hibadairock's youtube channel that spikydurian linked here, you will find a a video of Jeffrey performing at 2014 Canadian Stars on Ice. Finally. lol

Beverley Smith spoke to Patrick during the rehearsal? How come it wasn't Rosie DiManno? I wonder what Rosie is going to write about in her articles with Patrick sitting out of competition next season. I noticed Rosie has a soft spot for PChiddy.

Where you at Toronto SOI? I saw someone setting up a camera. Will you be at Thornhill? If so I will come and say hi.
    Also love your VM pics!

Oh my gosh, that's too sweet of you, thank you Corianna!

And Emdee I was at the Toronto show and the Hamilton show. In Toronto I was on ice beside the corner screen that was on the same side as the skater entrance but other end of the rink. There were two photos near that screen, I was the one closer to the short side of the rink! I'm hoping to be at Thornhill this year - I'm discussing it with the section after the AGM definitely come say hi if you see me!!!

Here's a 1-minute audio interview with Patrick Chan in Winnipeg: http://www.cjob.com/2014/05/07/world...s-in-winnipeg/
3 Time World Men’s Figure Skating Champion Patrick Chan is spending a busy day and night in Winnipeg. The 2014 Double Olympic Silver Medalist in Sochi was a volunteer for one of his corporate sponsors at the McDonald’s on Osborne this morning for McHappy Day.

After watching "Best of Me" link posted in the GSD CSOI thread, it reaffirmed my belief that Patrick is THE "Master of the Blade". It's unbelievable how much speed he gets. He just seems to float across the ice without any visible effort......incredible. I do believe no one even comes close to him in that aspect of skating......just a thing of beauty!!!!! I wish I could have gone to CSOI this year, but thankfully, some kind posters have made it possible for those of us who can't go to view some of the programs. . I love watching the other links too...the interviews etc.

    Thank you, luckiest1.

Hopefully Patrick wasn't lured into entering the contest the reporter mentions in that interview about who eats more Big Macs on McHappy Day because I want him to stay in shape. Form is easy to lose and difficult to get back and Patrick says somewhere that he tends to bulk up quickly.

Some pictures from the McHappy Day fundraiser.

Btw, I agree with what Patrick says in the interview that Jeffrey brings life into the Stars on Ice show this year and that life was a bit missing in the past couple of editions. The Opening number is gorgeous too, loved the music, costumes and choreography.

Saw the show in Calgary this afternoon - just a terrific show. I love it every year but this year seemed extra special. Patrick was amazing - so effortless and fast, jumps high and beautiful, edges to die for. The cast, as a whole, seemed to be having a blast and great friends (obviously just an impression), but Patrick just smiled so big and really related well to the audience. It was so nice to see him so worry free. In one of the small group numbers, Patrick skates with Kaitlin Weaver and lifts her - way to go there P. Chiddy! We are so fortunate to have this calibre of skaters - past and present - representing Canada.

Thank you VarBar. Can understand why he wants to do so much now to catch up what he didn't do the last four years.

"Patrick comfortable away from the grind" article by Globe and Mail.
The 2018 Olympics in South Korea are a lot farther away. “A huge commitment,” Chan called it, and one he has no plans to make soon.

First, he has to rediscover what he loves about skates on his feet, leaping from the ice, spinning at fantastic speed in the air. Stars on Ice – and possibly more events this fall – has been as much a way to make some money and enjoy time with peers outside competition as a chance to think about how to make skating work for him, if he’s to skate again. The sport, said Chan, has become overly rigid, stifling creative flourish. He’s looking for little things that make shows like Stars on Ice so much more enjoyable, and how he might transpose that, effervescent as it might be, to competition.

“I am,” Chan said, “trying to figure that out.”

Every time I see Patrick skate I'm blown away anew. Back from SOI. The first half number was so beautiful. The first bar of the music and the picky music-ie in me groaned, just not my style. But he made it work, because he is awesome. And I finished the program with a glint of tear in my eye. I shall never doubt again. It is the purity of his movement, and of course, his gorgeous glide, that makes it all so magical. He's such a special talent. I hope he continues to skate publicly for many many years to come.

Absolutely purity of movement is a perfect description.

I've always thought of Canadians as being some of the most knowledgeable figure skating viewers and I have no doubt in my mind that most of them are well aware of Tessa/Scott and Patrick unique quality. That V/M and/or Chan might not be the favorite skaters of some of them is another story. People don't always love or love the most the more talented ones. Preference isn't necessarily dictated by value from what I have noticed.
