Robin Cousins Documentary - Gold on Ice 1979

Before I depart for Singapore (less than 2 weeks ) I've had to sort out my DVD collection. Most of it has now gone into storage. I wanted to share this ages ago but lost it. Hurrah it is now found. This is a brilliant and rarely seen documentary charting Robin's progress towards the 1979 Worlds in Vienna. Loads of rare footage and behind-the-scenes glimpses; definitely one for the history buffs round here.

This was re-broadcast by the BBC on the red button prior to the start of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino and videoed by our very own goddess of FSU, SHARPIE so special credit to her for recording it in the first place. It was re-broadcast in 4:3 hence the lack of widescreen.

    Enjoy

Thaks a lot for sharing that documentary, floskate. The more so as Robin is one of my favorite skaters of all time.

My first-ever skating crush thanks for sharing! (although I think even back then, I could have lived without the disco music and dance moves!)

The distance Robin gets on that tuck axel

And the figures that John Curry did at the start of that programme

Ouch, Christa Fassi is a severe coach. I'd hate to have to face her first thing in the morning.

Me too; he was great and good looking to me! I remember jumps, splits, and leaps being some of the "biggest" I've ever seen!
