Wow. That's quite a lot of red ink! And some solid, long-term teams calling it quits! Just so sad about Collins/Seymour. I felt they had really good potential over the long-term to really rise through the ranks. They had great lines, lovely flow, and one of the best FD programs in Junior this year. He's grown a LOT over the year, and needs some time to adjust, but they would have had another year at Junior. (Didn't realize she is 18!) Her bio says she's only 5'1". Perhaps she should give Mr. Firus in Vancouver a quick ring. I'm sure he's a little busy in Sochi with his brother, but that might be a very interesting match - age, body lines, artistic skating, etc. I hope Seymour isn't done. (although I know boys don't always post their bios)

I thought Croteau-Villeneuve/Barthe also were one of the most improved teams this season. They were gelling together nicely as a team. And now they have to start all over again.

Really surprised about Desveaux/Razgulajevs. They've been skating together for years! They didn't look as strong this year, but they have a couple of years left at Junior.

My goodness..that is a quite a few BC teams now. When I think to the teams we watched at BC Summerskate in the dance it feels as if a majority have gone their separate ways.

Is this the usual carnage falling Nationals? It seems like more teams than usual are splitting.
A good rant is cathartic. Ranting is what keeps me sane. They always come from a different place. Take the prime minister, for example. Sometimes when I rant about him, I am angry; other times, I am just severely annoyed - it's an important distinction. - Rick Mercer

It seems like more then usual to me and I wonder if it is due in part to the change of age for the junior men. When some of these teams got together they had a set timeline, x number of years as Novice, y number of years at Junior then move to senior. Now they are being forced to Senior before they are ready. Even if that is the reason for only 2 or 3 teams , it will seem like many more then usual.

Nothing on ice partner search about this team but it would seem they have split as he's doing tryouts in Burnaby:

    Novice dance:

    12 Natascha Collier / Lee Royer AB/NT/NU 4.81 8.21 36.96 49.98

    Speaking of tryouts. ..any happening?

How tall is Lee? Can we hope the try out is with Caelen Dalmer? She is such a beautiful dancer. I was so sad when Firus didn't grow and was too short for her.

    Doubtful...if I was to guess, I'd say he's around 5'6 ...he is only 15 or 16.

It could be; it certainly seems like that's true. However, looking back at the junior results from 2013 Canadians, six of those teams didn't continue into this season (if I am counting correctly), which is the same number of splits as there now are from the 15 junior teams at this year's Canadians.

What is unusual compared to last season is that more of the splits are happening with higher-ranked teams; last season the majority of the splits were from the teams in 10th place or lower, with Caelen Dalmer/Shane Firus being the notable exception to that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this like the 4th partner in 4 years for Killing?

Just updating this thread with the news being reported in the Canadian Pairs thread in the great skate debate forum, that Purich/Tran have split. Can anyone confirm this report?

They have been together since they were young kids, but perhaps after finishing so low they realized they weren't going to advance much farther?

On the other hand, has it been confirmed they have split for good? They still seem to have photos of each other on their Twitter accounts as of a few days ago when I checked, and looked like they were hanging out together.
