Possibly, but...they don't follow the canon slavishly, and do twist it from time to time, which is what I'm hoping for.

I will not read that spoiler. I will NOT read that spoiler! WILL. NOT.

I'm sufficiently spoiled watching it on UK time, what with me not getting PBS over here. And I think it's been wonderful! And I love Mary. And I think Benedict and Martin are having loads of fun and it shows!

I think that photo is a promo image? IIRC it was the very first image released for series 3.

We've only watched ep 1, but it was FUN!! Keeping away from spoilers for ep 2 for now. Some of the "this is how Sherlock survived" scenarios were hilarious

I'm with you Wyliefan: We've waited so long that I want to see it on the best screen I have (and biggest) sitting wrapped in the softest of throws I received for Christmas. Counting down the days....

I've enjoyed Sherlock's first two episodes (with a few reservations), and I think they are building to a very dramatic conclusion. Can't wait, and am trepidatious with all the fandom. Three episodes is too short, they need to do a six- episode series to fully develop a story. Luckily, Series 4 seem to be confirmed and even Series 5 is likely.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I've been sort of underwhelmed so far. With episode 1 especially. I get the lure of fan service, but did we really need umpteen play back scenarios of how Sherlock might've survived? (I'll admit I at the slasher's flashback, although I've heard some fans were a bit offended by it) I would've happily cut the rest of the fan club parts.

Ep 2 was better, and I really like Mary, which is probably a bad idea.

I'm so glad I don't know much about the original Sherlock stories. It keeps everything fresh. I've loved this series. I know Benedict Cumberbatch is the STAR, but I have to say that in terms of acting I'm more and more impressed with Martin Freeman. What a lovely actor he is.

Truly. I'm trying to find time to see Hobbit 2 - with both of them.

Episode 3 made up for ep 1 being kind of shoddy. I think the writing was better (Moffat seems to do sociopath better than Gatiss), and the directing was definitely better. I hope we don't have to wait as long for s4...

    They are both superb, IMO.
We are very fortunate to have such superior writing/acting/directing, by all concerned.
