    Claudio Abbado

I know there are quite a few classical music and opera enthusiasts here at FSU and I thought some of you might know of Claudio Abbado, who was one of the great conductors of our time. Sadly he passed away yesterday at the age of 80.

An appreciation from the New York Times:

Personally I am a huge fan of his Brahms and also his Verdi and Rossini operas. My understanding from colleagues who knew him is that he was a great man as well as a great musician. RIP
