    Totally agree.

Underhill/Martini, 1984 Sarajevo was just such a shock I will always remember.

One of the worst LPs skated in the final group: Kiira Korpi at 2008 Worlds. 60+ points in the SP, only 85 in the LP.

Also the LP at the 2006 worlds, which I attended, and I remember how disappointed I was.

Funny how this seemed so horrible at the time, but hindsight makes me think, "Hmm, this wasn't as bad as I remember."
I don't think it was a horrible performance, but after Midori's Five (or six?) 6.0s, it appeared very weak. Jill had to skate lights out to beat Midori, and even then she may not have won. To add to her troubles, Claudia Leistner had a pretty good skate (silver). It seemed like Jill did not even try to compete for the gold; she just skated for a silver/bronze. It was a decent performance for a bronze.

Jill was never the strongest competitor. After her win at the 87 Nationals over reigning World Champion Thomas and Kadavy people expected big things from her, but it never came to fruition except for when she won the 1990 Worlds due to Ito`s figures disaester and a really weak field.

...and Jill skated a really good LP

Mao won both of her world titles without winning either the SP or the LP. Would anyone classify her as a weak free skater then?

Laeticia Hubert in Albertivlle was quite a mess... L/K in Kake Placid was somthing too, like they never put a foot an the ice before.

She skated a pretty good LP. Still not her best, her U.S Nationals one a month earlier was way better, and I far preferred much of her earlier years choreography to her wierd 1990 program but that is personal opinion. However her short program was really weak, and was lucky to get away with that and win, and only did to Ito's figures disaester.

Mao clearly should have won the SP at the 2008 Worlds and the LP at the 2010 Worlds (although I would have had Kim or Nakano winning the 2008 Worlds overall probably).

Any Free Skate performance by KAREN ITEN of Switzerland.

She was one of the best ever at figures, often placing first, only to place LAST in nearly every free skate.

    Lu Chen, 1997 Worlds SP.

She singled 2 elements in the SP, placed 25th, and didn't even make the long program. This after winning gold in 1995 and silver in 1996.

Brasseur & Eisler 1992 Olympics LP- looked like a complete meltdown, but they were given the bronze.

The men's free wasn't so great either in 2006.

Alissa Czisny's Worlds performance in 2012 was pretty painful. Felt so bad for her.

    How did I forget this?

Plushenko's LP at the 2000 worlds. He was 1st in the SP, but at age 17 he couldn't handle the pressure, it seems. He fell on the quad, then he tried another quad and fell on that too. It was the worst performance of his career, I think. He finished in 4th place overall.

The following year, at 18 years of age he had matured enough to skate two great performances and win his first world title (2001).

In failure there are seeds of success - for some, or may be most?

Sarah Hughes's 6th place finish at 2003 Worlds has to be one of the worst finishes for a still-competing reigning Olympic champion (especially since it was just the year before).

But it was a pretty good skate from her. She had a fall (I think on the toe-loop) but I thought it was really artistic for her.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned Alexander Fadeev's long at the 1986 worlds. I remembered it as being

    much worse
