Takahashi, Nichol come together on Beatles free
Famed choreographer describes program as 'poetic and profound'
    http://www.icenetwork.com/news/2013/12/19/66079182
"Daisuke does not perform emotion and movement that is put on him; rather, the movement and profound emotion come from within him." - Lori Nichol

Nichol, the legendary choreographer who helped Evan Lysacek to win his Olympic gold medal in 2010, created Daisuke Takahashi's new free skate, a Beatles medley. This is the first time the two great talents had met in person and worked together. She talked about her experience working with the skater and the thought she put into this particular piece of work.
"Randy [Starkman (1960-April 16, 2012)] lived by the same motto as the rest of us. The Olympics isn’t every four years, it’s every single day. He just got it." --Canadian Olympic kayaker Adam van Koeverden

Thank you, Sylvia. It is wonderful to hear Lori, who has seen it all in skating, talk about Daisuke in such glowing terms: "this precious magnetic soul," "divine," "only Daisuke could do it," and to realize how much she put into making his Olympic program worthy of his greatness. And so interesting that she was able to improve his skating skills by teaching him one small figure. I will look for it next time I watch his FP.

I loved this part... it brought tears to my eyes.

Can you imagine the pleasure for all lucky enough to watch him if he can put together two programs displaying all that makes him great? It will be a special day for everyone, and a great day for the progress of the art of figure skating.

I'm re-posting this from Mao cheer thread in TC since Lori choreographed her short program.

Sumitomo Life Insurance co is one of Mao's sponsors. SLI is now asking on their official facebook which SP costume her fans love. They say that they show (the summary? of) your messages to her. Why not post your message on it? It's not sure but she might take your messages into consideration when she decides which costume she'll wear in Olympics/Worlds. The dead line is 19th(Japan Time) and they start about the LP costume from 20th. It must be OK to write in English.

    1-A=Japan Open
    1-B=Skate America
1-C=she wore in other competitions besides those two.

It looks 1-B and 1-C are both loved by many fans. Maybe 1-B is the most loved one. Reading messages already posted on the facebook, the reasons are:
1-B: suitable for the music, the lavender color is beautiful, the most elegant
1-C: stands out in the rink, it looks better than 1-B with skaters in dark colors together in the rink

IIRC 1-B is based on Lori's advice. !-C is basically the same design but Mrs.Sato advised to add darker colors since she thought it didn't stand out in the rink together with skaters in dark colors.

Thank you, such a precise description of Mao's skating. Mao and Dai are
