The Giant Rubber Duck was brilliant while it lasted.

Two versions of a stage direction:

"Exit, pursued by a bear" (Shakespeare)

    or

"Exit, pursued by an anthropomorphic vacuum cleaner" (f_d)

Anyway Ms. Dance, in what way is it anthropomorphic - or don't we ask?

Having refreshed my memory of the vacuum cleaner from The Teletubbies, I see that "anthropomorphic" was the wrong word to use. Its consciousness seems more rudimentary (or, if you'd prefer, uncomplicated) than that of a human being.

As for the giant rubber duck, Florentijn Hofman's splendid creation has deflated (or, as the Guardian had it, exploded) at least twice, so it's not an absolute certainty that it will never float by coastal cityscapes again.

I'd give the win to Shakespeare in this case.

    Probably not.

So, who else is delighted that Park So-Youn won the silver at South Korean Nats with a clean free skate?

    - I am.
    - I am, after having been worried by her failure to meet her fed's qualifications for the JGP this season. (, :, or, if that's weird, no emoticon at all)
    - Eh, I was hoping for Hwi Choi to bring the postapocalyptic voids of her The Road SP to Sochi.
    - Okayyyy....

Old news. I noticed her potential circa 2012. The Korean ladies always seem so well packaged with good basics.

    Favorite brain lobe and/or part:
    Occipital lobe
    frontal lobe
    cerebellum
    medulla omblagata
    pineal gland
    corpus callosum
    other brain part...

    So did I.

I like the temporal lobe. Of those listed, the medulla oblongata has the best name.

    functionally extinct species:

    Baiji
    Japanese sea lion
    Caribbean monk seal

Eys all of those species were doomed from the start...will go with baiji for now.

Travel accomodations accounted for, which would you rather attend?
Drag queens on ice in SF (Voids and OTT galore but they're no teknik Tonya Hardcandy could do a crappy flying sit spin)
    Or
Moldovan Open with one or two elite skaters testing programs

But...but...I just baked some World Market eggnog scones for you.

Moldovan Open. Have you ever seen the former live?

    1) today's high temperature where I live (76°F/24°C)
    or
Tuesday's projected high at the same (40°F/4°C)?

    2) This has inspired me to pretend that Kwanita Rhinestone is real and will skate competitively starting next season.

    - "The lonely figure of little Kwanita Rhinestone, skating to musical selections by Haydn, Brahms, Amy Beach, and Stockhausen."
    - "The lonely figure of little Kwanita Rhinestone, skating to musical selections by Buxtehude, Bruckner, Alwyn, and Laibach."
    - "The lonely figure of little Kwanita Rhinestone, skating to musical selections by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Stevie Wonder, and Dee Dee Wonder."
    - "The lonely figure of little Kwanita Rhinestone, skating to a medley of whale songs, clips from ASMR ink grinding videos, and actor James Franco reading an essay about Julia Lipnitskaia and the Kierkegaardian Christianization of figure skating."

    1.

it's -8 F here and that's likely to be the highest temperature for the next 48 hours. The Boyfriend just brought the dog back in and I'm dreading the fact that he's heading out to Chicago tomorrow night because I'll be on dog-walking duty for the rest of the week. Not to mention supervising dog vs cat moments. He's a nice dog, but it's complicated now.

    Cats only
    Both together

No pets, no way, no how.

I wondered if a broadcast of the show numbered among the many glories of local television where you live./pretentious yokelism (and no, the use of "glories" is not ironic in this context)

I've seen La Tomatina on TV a few times. I think I might've enjoyed it when I was in my 20s…except for the contacts. Nowadays I mourn the fact that so many pretty tomatoes are basically thrown away, but I get the whole sacrifice to the gods/let off steam during harvest/sign of plenty vibe.

    so YAY.

US Championships are going on and IceNetwork is streaming. It was on all day yesterday (I work from home).
This team won the Novice Dance.
When they came out, the first song was BeeGees "How Deep Is Your Love". They're siblings.
    Is the music choice:
    1. meh
    2. just fine - it's only background for skating
    3. an odd theme for siblings
