    Back to Alena.

I believe her future is the ladies LP tomorrow. Everything else comes later.

Her jumps looked so good. I'm not a fan but after last season and the beginning of this season I hope she has the skate of her life tomorrow and then see where the chips fall!! Good luck Alena!!

May be they can send her to Euros to see how she does there? I believe Russia has 3 spots at Euros.

Yep exactly. Skate like her life depends on it tomorrow, let the chips fall where they may by hopefully getting a spot on the Euro team. THEN she can think about the Olympics. One skate at a time!!!

It would be great if Leonova could make Europeans but if Sotnikova and Lipnitskaia go 1-2 here, with their seasons up to now, I believe they would be the guaranteed Olympic team regardless of what happens at Europeans.

Lip may want to get more international experience by going to Euros but she may also risk a burnout by doing too many competitions.

True, but it would depend too on if the Russian fed. guarantees her a spot even if she skips Europeans altogether. They probably would with her season, especialy if she places 2nd or 1st here.

Props to Leonova for proving all the doubters (me included) wrong. She still has it in her!

she has never looked better, and that corny SP knocked my socks off. Her perk could cure juvenile diabetes.

I remember somebody saying she was experiencing some personal issues a while back. Maybe they got resolved.

Plus, she has had a lot more time to train her programs. Was she even in the GP this year?

IDK, Leonova is a Zombie. You can't get rid of her. She just keeps coming back (bad analogy). But I think she will have to be squeaky clean AND hope for mistakes from either Sotnikova and Lipnitskaya at both Nationals and Euros to have a prayer of Sochi. The Russian Fed. will need to be convinced more than once that even a superior performance at Nationals isn't just a fluke.

OTOH, Euros at this point is very attainable

Suddenly I am rooting for her. I love comeback stories. Before the SP I didn't even consider her for a medal. In my predictions I picked her to finish either 6th or 7th. One solid SP has made that turnaround in my mind. Besides she is the oldest skater in that field. I want to root for the 'old' skater who may be the only lady among girls.

I think she'll be happy and motivated to compete at Euros, since she has never won a European medal.

I hope she gets to compete at Euros so she has a chance at a season's best score. Without one, she's unlikely to get a GP assignment next year. Her days are numbered with all the talent in Russia right now, but I'd like to see her have at least a chance at making the SB cut for next year.

No matter what, she should be proud of her skate at Nationals!
