I cant think of anything Lipnitskaya does better than any of Kim, Asada, Kostner, Suzuki, Gold, besides higher base value than some, being more consistent, and better spins. If all of those skate clean she should finish last if the judging is fair. Her jump quality is weaker, her footwork is weaker, her skating skils are much weaker, her interpretation and performance skills are less. I know she will probably beat Gold and Suzuki even if they skate cleanly due to it being in Russia, but that really shouldnt be what would happen. If Gold skates like Nationals and Suzuki like hers, they deserve to score higher than Julia.

Oh no! People are going to write bad things about them on the internet! I'm sure they'd totally sacrifice any potential medal to avoid that!

Also it's amusing that if a Russian skater (other than V&T) wins it's because the Olympics are in Russia and the skater did not really deserve to win, according to this poster. However, when Yu na wins, they are 'trained judges' and can do nothing wrong.

This board will go crazy if that happens.

If there is major suspicion over the Russians and their results it will go well beyond that. The media and fellow skaters can be ruthless if given just cause. Remember Sale & Pelletier in Salt Lake City and Galit Chait at Worlds one year.

Looks like her exhibition picture. Sarah Hughes had appeared on Time cover in 2002 and she won the OGM. I hope this will turn out to be a lucky charm for Julia, although I would be even happier if Mao wins the OGM in Sochi.

Mao for the ladies event gold medal and Julia for the team gold and ladies bronze medal.

That could happen. As long as both of them make the podium in the individual (Mao can't make it in Team), I will be a happy camper. I don't want to jinx either one though. All this talk about Julia's momentum is making me nervous. There are so many talented ladies in this field! Anything can happen.

If she goes clean, a medal is locked. She has the base value, the judges don't care about her jumping flaws, and she is already ridiculously overscored on PCS at Russian GP and at Euros. I see nothing shy of 8s for her in PCS in Sochi.

My opinion on the matter is that if she wins the Olympics, at least this year, then why the hell isn't Caroline Zhang an Olympic champion? What about the pearl? They both had comparable SS and a triple/triple!

Though I do fully support her as a dominant skater 2014 worlds and beyond. She can OGM her heart out in the team event.

Bravo to Julia making the int'l TIME Mag cover! Following in the footsteps of Peggy, Dorothy & Sarah, could this portend glory in Sochi? If so....L**-L**-H*****! (hey, I'm just warming up).

I don't want to jinx her by predicting anything.

IMO the comparison with Caroline Zhang is beyond ridiculous. Julia has her flaws but she is always working on improving, and she has succeeded in coming a long way in just one season.
