Lynn Kriengkrairut and Logan Giulietti-Schmitt were originally slated to compete in Graz. However, they withdrew Monday as Kriengkrairut recovers from a back injury. She is expected to resume training soon.

This season is NOT going well for Lynn/Logan. Hope she recovers quickly and completely and that they can at least have a really strong showing at nationals.

A quick report on Novice free dance at Eastern Sectionals today.

Rebecca Lustig and Zachary Mileston (UDel) had a pretty good free dance (sorry I don't remember the music). No obvious mistakes except he stumbled early in the first twizzles, but he recovered to finest the sequence. They were third in FD and overall.

Eliana Gropman and Ian Somerville (WISA) skated to western music. They skated fast and aggressive. A couple of bobbles: Their twizzles got too close and he stumbled a bit. In the midline nontouching step sequence, he again had a stumble near the end, otherwise they may have gotten a better level. They were so cute. During one of the lifts, Ian was holding Eliana with one hand and smoothed his hair with the other --- This choreographic detail makes me laugh out loud every time I see it.

Gigi and Luca Becker skated to Bee Gees medley. They looked like a mini version of the Parsons, she with her hair in a bun and he with thick curls, and pretty good unison. Their twizzles were done well. In the midline nontouching steps, Luca stumbled near the end as well. They were also very cute doing the disco moves. My hats off to coach Novak for her expertise in choreographing age-appropriate but never boring programs for these kids.

G/S and Beckers were neck-and-neck in both pattern dances and the FD. In the end G/S won by less than a point in total score.

Can someone confirm whether or not the fourth Senior team that elected not to compete at Pacific Coast Sectionals is Gabriela Morrell-Zucker, All Year FSC / Andrejs Sitiks, Gardens FSC ?

Thanks for the Novice FD report from Easterns, Jun Y!

Madison Hubbell's new blog article: http://www.icenetwork.com/news/2013/12/03/64354274
    Excerpt:
Our assignments couldn't have been more perfectly arranged this season. What we thought would be an unfortunately tight schedule -- with no time to work and improve between events -- turned out to be crucial in my ability to compete. Not only did I have the least amount of time to have to train through pain, but with an early finish, I had time to get a diagnosis and treatment plan without interfering with training for nationals.

The week after Skate Canada, I headed to Hospital for Special Surgery in New York to see an orthopedic specializing in hips. I was able to have all the tests necessary to determine the nature of my injury. What I have is a labral tear, something that seems to be an increasingly frequent diagnosis in our sport. In my case, the doctor gave me the go ahead to keep training, with a treatment plan that is aimed to not only eliminate a lot of pain but also strengthen the area so that the injury does not get worse. At the beginning, I had to start slowly, and the pain was not much improved. But I am almost back to full training, and the pain is dwindling as I keep working the treatment program.

I know that this whole blog sounds like a downer, but I couldn't feel more positive.
    ...
ETA that this blog article and Madison's injury is also being discussed in the H/D fan thread in the Trash Can: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/show...=1#post4069073

    Nice!

Did anyone else see that Maxim Kovtun (if that's really him) responded to the instagram with "Virgin". What is that about?
