Does anyone here live in Honolulu?

Just wondering. I'm taking my first trip to Hawaii later this week, just Thursday through Sunday.

Thought I'd ask if any FSUers live there!

I have a condo in Honolulu but I only live there part-time. The rest of the year I am in Texas.

Skating facility There's only one in the islands - the Ice Palace.

Haven't skated there in years, but that's where I learned to skate. The conditions are pretty bad during public sessions (the hockey kids chew up the ice and the tubes underneath the ice start to feel as if you're skating on metal rollers), but it's not too bad at the beginning of the day before it opens to the public.

That being said, I'm still amazed/happy it's survived all these years, especially with how much electricity it must cost to maintain a puddle of ice in Hawai'i year round .

I lived there in 1982. Does that count?

Looks like we'll miss each other this time around.

I've had a great time here in Honolulu, leaving for the airport in about an hour.

Among other things, yesterday I had lunch with our very own CantALoop. He is very nice, knows a lot about skating and is totally hilarious (no big surprise there). Nice meeting you, C!

    Aloha!

*blush* It was a real pleasure getting to meet you as well, skateboy! This is my first time meeting someone from FSU in person, and it was really an amazing experience just getting to chat with another die-hard skating fan It was a rare opportunity and a whole lot of fun just talking about things and making jokes about the sport we love among other things

Glad you enjoyed your visit here in the islands!
