    Ilinykh and Katsolopov splitting

Worlds are their last competition. He will be teaming up with Victoria Sinitsina. No word on what Elena or Ruslan Zhiganshin will be doing.

Really sad about this. I loved I and K's FD this year

That's insane! They had such an amazing season, and everyone is expecting them to dominate in the next quad. What?!

I would have thought it was already April 1st. What would possess them to do this once they finally have good programs and results? (Interpersonal issue?)

I would have thought it could be interpersonal issue, but Morosov will be coaching Nikita and Victoria. It's all seeming so strange.

Maybe conflict between Elena and Morozov? Apparently Katsolopov & new partner will stay with Morozov. After all, Miki and Morozov tried staying working together for a while after their split, and even achieved success, but then things ended badly.

Well, at least they walked away with Olympic medals. More than can be said for some other talented couples...

Do we have any confirmation of this from anyone involved, or an article quoting anyone other than the same nameless "source" this and other articles mentioned? It seems so unlikely, I want confirmation.

I wonder if this might be sabotage? I have often wondered if that's what really went down with Klimova's doping test back in 1991

Wait, Klimova & Ponomarenko still got to compete at Worlds in 1991. http://articles.latimes.com/1991-02-...-championships

Are you saying the situations are similar in the sense that someone deliberately tried to make sure neither team showed up in the best condition at Worlds?

Yes that is what I am wondering, not saying that it's necessarily true

What is the sabotage? A fake assertion or a distraction?

I really don't know what to say, if all of this is true.

Well I guess best of luck to Viktoria & Nikita with their new partnership and hope that Elena & Ruslan can find other opportunities to keep competing.

They had a good Olympics. They began their season not medaling at a gp event! Lol.

I refuse to believe this until it is confirmed by something other than a anonymous source

Same here. The timing of this is really weird.
