You can only inquire about D score, right? So I assume they must have not given her credit for a connection or a leap (switch ring?) and she contested that.

First gymnast to score a medal in all four apparatuses since Khourkina.
Beam even in 2010 is the event where Aliya has always been the shakiest at times.. Its the only event she didn't medal on in 2010! However beam is actually one of my favorite events for her. It shows of a lot of her good qualities, her toe point, carriage extension. I use to hate when she'd end her beam routine with the fugly triple twist.

I always thought she was capable of medaling on the event if she hit.

The last two years though she's been clearly very shaky on the event. Here's hoping this world title will give her the confidence she needs!

I can't help thinking of the Ultimate Mustafina Tribute, where it says she's coming for your medals...

But honestly I just love Mustafina's attitude. She really does have a great one...She's just such a fighter. I so wish that she'd teach her other teammates how to fight like that. She gave an interview where she said she just wanted to finish the competition with dancing (she said the same at the Olympics last year).. I love her fighting spirit. And yes she may be a "don't touch me". She always congratulates her competitors, win or lose.

Agreed - Mustafina's attitude towards her gymnastics is inspiring. To come back from injury and have the success she's had takes some serious fight. I also admire how she never gives up in a meet; she clearly came to beam wanting more from these championships. On top of it all, she's been quite sick recently, which makes all of this success even more impressive.

Weirdest fall ever on beam for Iordache - looks like she had that full in down cold. Her FX medal was her first world medal ever?! I feel like she's been around for ages.

Lurved Musty's beam set. She doesn't have the crazy hard tricks but everything is done so cleanly and with real style.

What happened to the Chinese men?! Are they in rebuilding mode or something?! They are usually so dominant but are a rare sight in Antwerp.

It's Iordache's first trip to Worlds. She got lots of notice as a junior(starting in 2010 I think?) which is why it seems like she's been around forever.

Is Biles the first female gymnast since Shannon Miller in 1992 to win 4 individual medals at the same world or olympic competition? The worst she did was 4th on the UB. That's very impressive, especially in this era in which specialists get so much attention.

Mustafina won 4 individual medals in 2010 Rotterdam: gold all-around, silver on vault, bars, and floor. Qualified for all four event finals, but was tired and fell on beam.

I believe Mustafina also won four (individual) medals in 2010 in addition to team gold (AA gold, VT silver, UB silver, FX silver).

Mustafina medaled in the AA, vault, bars, and floor in 2010.

Khorkina did it twice (AA, bars, beam and floor in 1997; AA, vault, bars, and floor in 2001).

And Liukin in 2005 (AA, bars, beam, and floor)

Liukin won 5 medals in Beijing, although one was obviously with the team.

Oh, thank you all. I'm not surprised I forgot about Khorkina since I only started to appreciate her gymnastics at the very end of her career, but I don't know how I managed to forget about Liukin at the Olympic Games! On the other hand, Liukin hadn't made all 4 event finals. I guess I was really impressed by Biles, who came just one place short on one event to medal everywhere.

Mustafina, 8 world championships medals, 4 olympic medals, that says it all

Russia owns her a LOT! other than Aliya performance the russian team was a big disappointment at this world championships

Romania, just ONE medal at this meet with Larisa Iordache bronze

Good for Vanessa Ferrari, taking the silver at floor when she was almost retired.

    That's a bit of a shock ... is this 2003 or 2013?

My doubts more surround Shang though, than Huang. I hope Iordache cleans her clock on beam tomorrow.
It's fine if we do it; we're just fans and airing our opinions in public won't mean squat. Marta, however, is a powerful representative of her federation and IMO (YMMV) should not be making comments like she did in that video whether she knew she was being taped or not. She can say what she likes in private, but not at the competition, not at the venue. According to IG, she even went up to a Chinese coach and said, "What a pretty baby!" or some shite like that which makes her an even bigger beetch than I thought. Like, the Chinese doesn't even know much English anyways, so I can be as snide as I want!

Ultimately, Marta can say what she wants even in public, she's entitled, but she doesn't have to. It's not like what she says will change anything anyways. She still goes ahead and does it, which IMO makes her classless. I know she's got nothing whatsoever to do with gymnastics, but I like to use the example of Audrey Hepburn. D'you think she'd say anything that could even remotely be considered offensive or controversial in public, even if she was perfectly entitled to do so and no one would think ill of her if she did? You can bet your booty she wouldn't because that would not be a classy thing to do.

I'm so happy for Kristian Thomas and Vanessa Ferrari! Ferrari had an awesome AA and totally deserved her medal. And Kristian Thomas... under a different code, he'd have been vault champ with those performances. I was well impressed.

Wow Musty really did pull that BB routine out of nowhere. Great set. I agree, Kyla needed fewer stops to really claim the top spot. Lots of poses. Nice routine though.
I think I will have a snack and take a nap before I eat and go to sleep.
