Too bad the Greek gymnast (top qualifier?) had to end his set early because of mistakes, but if that wasn't one code-whorey routine before that point, then I really don't know what was.

I guess they're coming down hard on Ross for rhythm and tempo and for how long she takes to set up elements. I'm a bit surprised that they were so harsh with her but I can see their point. Hopefully she will work on it for next year.

Murakami's FX was fantastic Loved that quad spin and the music too.

    ETA: Behind Ferrari?!

    FWIW I thought Ross's beam was quite...staccato.

I noticed that, too. She has such beautiful lines, but it's always like long pause - beautiful lines in motion for two seconds - followed by long pause etc.

PB-final was weird, so many big mistakes.

FX scoring has been super weird so far. Biles scored MILES better than what I thought she would, considering she bounded out of two of her tumbling passes.

ETA: I love it when the taller gymnasts (e.g. Steingruber) do double layouts. They look so cool with the taller frame.

Steingruber was my discovery for the week. She was delightful on vault, too.

Shame for Izbasa again. Crazy for this to happen again to her. On the plus side, she looks gorgeous! Why has she been wearing a ponytail for all these years, this look is fabulous for her.

What a weird FX final. Nobody really came to win, it seemed. Sloppy tumbling, barely any stuck passes... I don't really know who should have come out on top based on the performances, but I don't think it should have been Biles

I'm no fan of Biles but I think she did deserve to win, based on the sheer difficulty of the routine.

Glad that Iordache finally came away with a medal (only one for Romania which is crazy) and happy for Ferrari as well after the Olympic disappointment.

Men's high bar and the flying Dutchman does it again - awesome routine!! Will it be enough? Scored 16.00 with a 7.7 difficulty!!

Yay! Very happy for Orozco. Nice reward after his long recovery from the injury and almost not making the team.

Kind of crazy that after Mikulak's domination at US Nationals, he walks away empty handed while almost all of his teammates medal.

I think that the continuing bromance of Hambuchen and Zonderland was the best part of the HB final for me

Ditto on Mikulak though, hopefully this is the kick that he needs though to come back even stronger next year

Whoever choreographed Ross' beam routine must have been trying to demonstrate every artistry deduction in the code. I wonder what the enquiry was about.
