    By Tomoyuki Suzuki
She showed the pride of the former Worlds champion.
And the strategic characteristic, too, of no mistakes.

With the look which she used up all of her energy and willpower, she ended her actual competition after an interval of three seasons. Having not leeway to pick up even a thrown stuffed animal and so on, Ando left from the rink.
But, even if the physical strength didn't still recover, the strength of the mind which competes against the skaters who sit in a row in the world was already revived in her.

She said, "I wasn't necessarily pessimistic. I could feel that I get to be able to compete with the top players again, if I continues to practice".

The scene which is behind in the movement from the music was conspicuous if seeing the whole and it was 4 minutes which she couldn't get the evaluation of high level, in the spin and the step, too. However, the pride as the former champion was inlaid to everywhere in her program.

As for the triple Lutz in the beginning, she nailed it exactly.
Continuing the short program, she made the most difficult jump among triple jumps succeed in the free skating, saying, "I had decided that I attempts it surely in my first competition, because I decided that I returns to the competition".

As for 6 jumps also after that, there were no falls. As for the triple Lutz which she has planned to attempt in the middle stage, too, she changed to the Salchow jump in haste. It became double rotation in the result, but she showed one end of her strategic characteristic which wasn't required at the ice show. She said, "I was in the spiritual aspect where I can skate while thinking. I think that it has been the very good judgement".

Because there were many participants, too, for being Olympics preliminary competition, her skating order was after 11 p.m. As for the evening practice, too, and the 6 minute practice, too, the mistake was conspicuous for her.
But she changed feelings and answered the expectations of the audience who look forward to her, saying "I have no choice but to do a performance. I try absolutely".
She said, "This is my physical strength and ability now".
In her embarrassed laughter, her evident confidence peeped out, too.

This is an article in "Nikkan Sports" in Japan.
    Translating to English from Japanese.

As for specifying Miki Ando to the specified athlete, JSF will decide it after inspecting her in Kanto Championships.
    September 29th, 2013

Passing through the birth of a girl in April, the former Worlds champion Miki Ando (25, Shinyokohama Prince Club) moved in a lively way, such as winning the second place in her return match after an interval of 3 seasons.
She won the second place in SP, won the 4th place in FS and won the second place with 162.86 points in total. With the scores equivalent to the 13th place of the Worlds in March, 2013, she broke through the minimum technical score (SP 20points, FS 36points) which is necessary to participate to the Sochi Olympics.

Yoshiko Kobayashi, the chief director of JSF who watched her skating in the venue, expressed the opinion, saying, "Her performances in yesterday and in today becomes the reference. As for the judgement of whether we specify her to the certified athlete, we will decide after inspecting her in the Kanto championship".
As for the return to the certified athlete whom she declined in the end of last year, the judgement isn't hastened by the result of the International Competition of this time and it is judged after inspecting her in Kanto championship as the former policy.
As for the condition to participate to Sochi Olympics, Kobayashi said, "It is decided undisputedly as the selecting policy of JSF, if she has won in the Japan Nationals ".

As for Miki, the second preliminary competition to Japan Nationals was visible!

This is an article in “Sports Hochi” in Japan.
    Translating to English from Japanese.

As for Miki, the second preliminary competition to Japan Nationals was visible! The entries are only 5 players against the condition to enter within 7 places.

In October 12th, Kanto Championship which combines the first preliminary competition to Japan Nationals opened in Shiyokohama Skate Center. The upper 7 players advance to Higashi Nihon (Eastern Japan) Championship which is the second preliminary competition to Japan Nationals, but, in October 11th, it was found that only 5 who contain Miki Ando participate to this competition.

As for the domestic first match of Mom Ando who aims at Sochi Olympics, it may be in the atmosphere of easy victory before competing.
As for Ando who came back after an interval of three seasons, this event is the important competition which links to Japan Nationals (in Saitama, in December 21st-23rd) which is the final selection meeting for Sochi Olympics.
As for the Ladies in this competition, only six entered from the first but one among them withdrew moreover in this day. If finishing skating without withdrawing regardless of the ranking, it became the situation which she can advance to Higashi Nihon Championship which is the 2nd preliminary competition to Japan Nationals.

Ando won the second place in Nebelhorn Trophy of September which was her return match after an interval of about 2years and half since she won her second championship in the Worlds of April of 2011. And she has already gotten there the minimum technical score which is necessary as the qualification for participating to Olympics. Japanese Skating Federation has the policy that it makes her return to the certified athlete of JSF depending on her performance in the area preliminary competition.

In this day, the opening ceremony and the lottery of the 'starting order' were held in the venue. And Ando, too, attended. This event became an exceptional charged game as the area preliminary competition, but the advance ticket on the October 13th and the October 14th that Ladies FS is done were sold-out approximately. Mom Ando who says "I could barely stand to the starting spot" is going to show the appearance which she fights in Japan.

According to this article, Miki has a plan to participate in a competition around November 10th. (It was written that she had a plan to participate in a competition in Austria. But the line has been changed and now it doesn't mention to the place.)

2013 Nail Queen Award: Seven People Including Miki Ando Are Awarded
    http://ribiyo-news.sakura.ne.jp/?p=1...medium=twitter
    my translation from Japanese:
On the award ceremony day(side note: it's on 10th November), there is a possibility that Miki Ando participates in a competition. In that case, she gives us her video message.
Assuming she has a plan to participate in a international B-class competition held in Austria around November 10, it would be Icechallange(November 19-24). Aside from Icechallenge, there are a few other ISU international competitions such as, Volvo Open Cup(Riga, Latvia November 7-10), Merano Cup(Merano, Italy Nov 14-17), Warsaw Cup(Warsaw, Poland Nov 14-17) and Pavel Roman Memorial(Olomouc, Czech Rep. Nov 15-17). Does JSF know this plan, yes or no?

    Time Line:
    October 10-14 Kanto Regional
    November 1-4 East Japan Sectional
    November 19-24 Icechallange
    December 21-24 Japan National

    October 14th, 2013

"At the final day in Kanto Championship" (October 14th, Shinyokohama Skate Center)

The senior Ladies FS was held, Miki Ando won the championship with 147.30 points and decided the participation to Higashi Nihon Championship (Gunma prefecture) of October.

However, as for the contents of performance, it was severe situation as same as those in SP yesterday.
She challenged the program "Fire Bird" of free skating of this season, but the first triple Lutz and the next triple Loop was evaluated as the lack of rotation successively. The second jump of the combination jump 2A-3T of the middle stage became double rotation and she touched a hand on ice with the landing of the 2T of the second half. As for the spin of the final stage, it became level 1. As for the program component score, too, which shows the expression ability, it didn't grow up.

For her, it is since NHK Trophy of November in 2007, that the total score became below 150 points.
A big problem was left from now on.

    thanks akira-andrea for the scores and result details;

    the link of mikis short program above is from nebelhorn trophy, not from kanto championships;

but the small clip of her free skate is from kanto; i like her face at the end-pose, as miki seemed really pissed by her skate. that gives hope, that either she has done much better in practice or at least she still has the fire to compete and really wanted this trip to sochi.

    fingers crossed for miki!

As for the performance of the free skating, it was 2 days which left a problem in, because I had left the fatigue by the international competition after a long rest, but, passing through the competitions of Germany and this time, I could find what is insufficient for me now.
I think that this competition became the good one which links to the future for me.

I think that I would like to do my best so as to be able to show the performance which is unforgettable to everyone from now on.

Because there are the players who leave a competition after the awards ceremony, I announced in the form like this.
Please support me from now on, too.
