Two newcomers to the national team resident program this season, 19-year-old Nina Lussi ... Lussi, a native of Lake Placid, N.Y., and the great-granddaughter of legendary figure skating coach Gus Lussi, committed to the Park City-based national team program this season after spending her last two years of high school in boarding school in Austria.

Nina Lussi finished 6th yesterday at the U.S. Olympic trials (only the winner got an automatic berth for the Olympic team). The other spots will be determined after the next 2 World Cup events (for both men and women).

The US Hockey team roster was announced.

    http://espn.go.com/olympics/hockey/s...-hockey-roster

Sadly, Keith Yandle of the Phoenix Coyotes did not make the team.

Good luck to the US Hockey team. Bring home the Gold this time!

On the womens team we do have a local gal (from Chandler, AZ)- the lone Olympian from AZ, I am afraid - Unless Doug Razzano makes the mens FS team. The odds against him are astronomical (sp?)

Watched the short track speed skating trials over the weekend. Apollo Ono was one of the commentators. He did okay. They should show short track events more often. It's visually interesting and has exciting close finishes. They were a little dismissive of the people who weren't obviously going to finish in the top 3 to get they team spots.

The NBC bobsledding pre Olympic show seemed more like an infomercial for BMW. Only at the end did they skim over the US's competition results which have been great internationally. The show was all about getting the sled right.
