    Off season synopsis?

Hello guys, - I haven't followed skating since last year's Worlds due to a burping, farting, happy baby.

We had this "what happenend in the off season" thread a couple of years ago and now it would be really great for me to have it again.

    What happenend?

    Coaching changes?
    Retirements, splits, new pairs?
    Notable assignments to competitions?
    Dating rumours?
Anything at all that might interest me and other people who lost track in the off season?

Would you like it in bullet points or poem form?

Whatever is more convenient for you. Bullet points might be easier since I am sure as always there are a lot of little things that have happenend and I want to know it ALL.

as you speak of a happy baby, as a miki ando fan; she welcomed a baby girl. no news about the father; she wants to qualify for sochi, has been back on the ice and showed triple salchows (wobbly) 1 or 2 months after the birth

for the other news, i have to take more time

Well, since my only previous experience with poetry involves scrawling dirty limericks on men's room walls......here's a poem.

    An off season in Review
Patrick bitches about the World Team Event
"It could have been meeeeeee, so why was I sent???"
Korpi still hampered by her achilles
but Daisuke's Beatles gave me the willies...

Diva Anissina, now red & grey,
has claimed a comeback is underway...
Mao's ice show is a profound success
And she's brought back the Nocturne, yes yes yes yes!

And while Bionic Plush's quads are back...
...the Shibutanis just want a snack.
    Akiko, Takahiko...could this be heaven??
and is Mirai REALLY skating to 007??

Watch Scotty Hamilton crash and burn.
While Rockne's decision makes some stomachs churn
Could Curry be Evan's new inspiration?
Or will failed triple axels just bring trepidation?

    Phillip Mills proves most unclassy
No worries for Ashley, the girl is crassy
So off to Artunian does Swagner go,
and her roomie, Rippon--will the quad lutz show?

Michelle Kwan is back...commentating, no less.
And will Lipinski's tenure renew? you asses.
Meanwhile Miss Cohen is selling her snoxx,
and Rohene's choreography is outside the box

So is Trankov Jesus or is Volozhor the one?
And is the battle for gold decided and done?
If so it's a shame for the Germans are game
While Virtue/Moir's dance is all but the same

At least Florent is free from Morozov's grip
And what's left for Joubert to do but strip?
For a deep men's field awaits us in Sochi
Oh, and Miki had a baby...her name? Himawari

That's pretty much everything. I need a drink.

Congrats on the baby, who's hopefully doing more exciting things than just burping and farting

Miki Ando was the big news, I think, especially as it was so out of left field. Secret babies are something I'd expect in a romance novel, not in skating...

I can't compete with siouxdonym's excellent work, but a few additions:
Pechalat/Bourzat are now coached by Shpilband
Tomas Verner went back to Oberstdorf and Huth
Kiira Korpi switched coaches to Aratunian

Hausch and Wende got married and she changed her name, so it's W/W now.

    What happenend?
Gracie Gold and Max Aaron undertook four months of intensive study of musical interpretation with Jeffrey Buttle.
Elena Ilynikh discovered the joys of dating a guy her own age.
Alena Leonova spent the summer learning to cook with Brian Boitano.
Adam Rippon finally mastered four different quadruple jumps and the triple axel.
Alissa Czisny returned to skating fully recuperated and with a rock-solid triple salchow.
Ashley Wagner nailed not one, not two, but three different triple-triples.
Kevin Reynolds got a new coach and a new barber.
Narumi Takahashi wrote to Mervin Tran, saying "I am sorry I mistreated you. Please take me back!"
Marina Zoueva did the same thing to Igor Shpilband.
Yuna Kim and Mao Asada announced that when they retire from competition, they will operate a skating rink together.
Scott Hamilton retired from broadcasting, prompting Sandra Bezic to return to choreography.

    And then I woke up.

Thanks you guys. I was so excited about Vagabond's post - being so out of the loop that I of course believed it all.

Wow - a secret baby. Especially in skating-crazy Japan. Not a mean feat!

Anissina? That has to be another April 1st joke, non???

Baby can do a little bit more than farting and burping - shitting, screaming, crying but also laughing and making us not only tired but very happy as well. Sioux, I don't want to write the name in the open - I send you a rep comment with it once I can rep you again.
