BTW: What is Roza Sheveleva doing these days? She was quite a promising young lady a few seasons back but then there were injury problems which prevented her from qualifying for Russian Nats. Is she still skating or did she retire?

Rosa Sheveleva suffered from a severe back injury. She continued to skate for a while but I think by now she is retired, but I am not a 100 percent sure.

It would be such a shame. She was such a beautiful skater.
While we're at it: Any news about the Russian Junior Men or their programs?

another lost talent on sheveleva. career ended before it really could start

although i'm not a fan of all that country hopping, i am happy to see some of this talented skaters in senior championships.
zlobina/sitnikov for example are great to see at any international events and it hurts my heart, that a team like monko/khaliavin might fall off.

so for that, i am happy to see shelepen (hopefully) next season again.

On another forum there was this question about six months ago and the response was that "she had serious illness with her backbone, unfortunately, and this situation is permanent, with no hope. So she is gone from "big sports", although she skates, with score about 110-130 total (SP+FS)."

Sad. I really liked her skating.

So Korobeynikova and Gosviani got Ondrej Nepela Trophy (Senior B competition). I wonder whether they are sent there to fight for the last remaining GP spot (the one in Russia - TBC).

Coming back to FSU after a long absence!

Sotskova is impressive. Yet another young Russian lady...I was kind of hoping the situation re Russian ladies would be clearer by the time we got to the Olympic season, with 2 or 3 girls having emerged as the top contenders, but that's still not the case. Some have more rep than the others but I don't see clear favourites yet. I'm not talking about the ones who aren't eligible to compete internationally, but even so there are so many...

Who do you see as doing well on the GP and Euros/Olys/World?

    Bazarova/Larionov article: http://www.goldenskate.com/2013/08/b...ew-directions/
    Excerpt:
... Nikolai Morozov suddenly came up with this modern arrangement of Charlie Chaplin. For us it is the first time to try something like this and we liked it. Otherwise we wouldn’t have done it. The idea is to portray the 30s of the past century. We are like an old photograph coming to life."

The free program to Polovetsian Dances from the opera Prince Igor by Alexander Borodin is a more natural choice for the two-time European medalists.

“This style is closer to us and we had already selected this music at the end of last season,” Larionov pointed out. “As for the short program, we still have to work a lot on it; each move of the hand needs to be perfect.”

Johnny Weir tweeted last week about skating with them, so guess they are back in New Jersey, but beyond the rumour at the start of the summer that they're skating to Swan Lake there's been no other news.

I'm really hoping for better programmes for them this season
We're really only waiting for I/K and C/L choices now.

I wouldn't mind seeing worse programs fom them either
Not because I want to see them fail but I think it would be hilarious to see something worse than Ghost!
