    Skating to Schindler's list

Schindler's list is one of my most favorite pieces of music. I am thinking more of this right now because recently during my visit to Krakow, Poland, I saw the Schindler's Factory from outside (couldn't go in; they were closed).

There have been some great skating performances to this music. Julia Lipnitskaya is going to use it this season, from what I read. It will be interesting to see how she interprets it.

Here are my three most favorite Schindlers list performances.

#1. Paul Wylie at 1994 Pro Worlds:

#2. Irina Slutskaya at Masters of Figure skating:

#3. Katarina Witt at 94 Pro worlds:

    Others:

    Savchenko-Szolkowy (2009)

    Ilinykh-Katsalopov (2009)

    Jonathan Cassar (2010)

    Sergei Voronov (2009 FS):

    Zaretsky & Zaretsky (2010 FD)

Some that I had never heard of:

Harkaway & Larcom (2002 US nationals)

(Her dress looks a lot like Michelle Kwan's Lyra Angelica 1998 dress)

Galina Maniachenko did a lovely sp to Schindler's List, I think it was 2001/2002 season. To lazy to look it up in YouTube though... She almost won a medal at Euros with two strong performances.

It was mentioned at several places, including Skate Canada 2001.

Joshua Farris is skating to SL this season. His senior international debut will be at the Salt Lake Senior B next month.

I don't believe the one I posted is a montage. She has the same dress throughout. There is a montage on yt with this music in the background, but that's not the one I posted.

I&K looked really good in 2009. They must have been so young!

Very recently, Elene G skated a very beautiful SP to SL. Clever choreo, subtle yet graceful costume, and her performance was just sublime. Too bad she had a rather unfortunate season

If it's not a montage, wouldn't you be able to hear the audience? The audio (clearly the studio version of a track) was clearly dubbed over the video in the one you posted. Had the camera picked up the audio as it was played in the arena, it would have sounded differently.

In order to put an end to this stupid conversation I have edited my original post to delete Yuna. I maintain that the link I had posted was not a montage; it looked like a single program. There is no rule that you must hear the audience. There is another link on yt that does have a montage with this music.

Can we please move on now to the music itself and other performances? There is no need to argue over this point.

IMO, it's wonderful. Her best program by far
I'd say fairly well. Music cut is very interesting(I guess it is a mixture with another piece?) and so is her choreo.

I'm generally not fond of Schindler's List programs; it's become overused, and is sometimes just a convenient opportunity to make tragic faces. I did like Cassar's take on the music as well as the Zaretskis', and Savchenko/Szolkowy did fairly well, too. I/K's was in very poor taste with that shock ending.

Carolina Kostner's FS in her first senior season included music from Schindler's List, but only for about a third of the program.

Julia's FS will be to SL, while this is her SP.
Her SP is to a rather famous Russian song "Do not surrender if you love" by Alla Pugacheva.

i must have misread in the other thread. LP makes more sense for this music, but my concern is due to Julia's young age. Will she be able to express the deep feelings in this music?

My most favorite SL is still Paul Wylie's. IMO in a PRO routine there is less need for jumps so more opportunity to express the emotions.

Thank you for the correction. I made a horrible mistake! But I did like the music in her sp very much and have been watching it many times already. It's a really good vehicle for her. I'm fully looking forward to seeing her FS by Averbukh. He seems to play some magic with Julia.

Michelle Menzies et Jean-Michel Bombardier in 1998, a beautiful program! But not a very good performance that night...

Wonderful to hear that "the Show goes on" at Sun Valley after all the wild fire issues they have had.

How was Johnny costumed? It is almost spiritual music so flashy fab would not really work. Hope he let his elegant skating and the artful music tell the story.

    Skating to Schindler's list

From what I heard feom those who were there, Johnny skated in a simple white costume, no glitter, no sparkle, just a plain white costume.
