    The latter.

Spent several hours on the High Line yesterday, then checked out this awesome, intimate jazz salon that's bringing the music back to Bed-Stuy.

    2) Stock prices have reach what looks like a permanently high plateau - Economist Irving Fisher in October 1929, days before the Black Tuesday crash.

I haven't seen much of it yet, but I'll say Yay for now, though I've already heard the phrase "without a doubt" used with reference to the solidity of his reputation, which, as far as I know, isn't even yet the case.

Pierre Boulez has, of course, a long history of dissing DS. In 2000 he said, "Well, Shostakovich plays with clichés most of the time, I find. It's like olive oil, when you have a second and even third pressing, and I think of Shostakovich as the second, or even third, pressing of Mahler."
Also, the overhyping of the awesomely bad Seventh Symphony, followed swiftly by a negative critical reaction, hurt Shostakovich's reputation for several decades afterward (in the US, at least). As late as November 1989, the music critic Blanche Devereaux exclaimed that she had "no idea that music that loud could be so boring" (or words to that effect).

"Dancing in the Dark", Season 5.

I thought this was going to be a Sims re-creation.

Oh, so you're saying that I shouldn't do that? Actually, I'm rather Sims-ed out right now.

All the Golden Girls room are so '80s and dated, but of all of them, Blanche's room is by far the snazziest, and, besides, it's where all the action happens.

NYC update: went to the Cloisters, the Met, and the Village Vanguard today (Saturday); going to the US Open tomorrow and the Jazz Standard tomorrow night.

Back to pads and rooms: if I were to create my own pad, which would you advise? I would likely go for a 2 or 3 bedroom setup and rent the extra rooms out.

Nice, newer townhouse, but one that's narrow and cramped in between lots of other cookie-cutter townhouses
    or
Stand-alone house, but an older one in a less desirable area
