Madly cheering for Drouin since he's a "local" guy -- he's from a small place about 15 minutes down the highway or 20 minutes if you take the river road view.
    Crazy about sports!

Love how David Oliver of the US could hardly wait for them to announce his name and get on the podium to collect his Gold - and what a great smile

Melnichenko, Thiesen Eaton, and Schippers all got PB's in the 800 to hold on to the gold, silver, bronze in that order. The top 8 in the 3rd heat all set PB's ! Sometimes you see a leisurely final event because the medals are set, not this time.

Drouin is also easy on the eyes so that helps too lol. I'm so thrilled for Brianne to get another medal for Canada. To have two medals in the multi-events is huge for Canada. Also should take a lot of the pressure (hopefully) off of Drouin and Armstrong so hopefully they can start to excel a little bit

Glad to see Mo Farah didn't have to extend himself too much either in getting to the finals for the 5K. Looks like tomorrow is a bit of a rest day for most before things really start to pickup for the weekend.

Does anyone know the reason for disqualification?

Yelena Isinbaeva defeats Jenn Suhr and Yarisley Silva for pole vault gold. She's pointed out that her plans are to take time off between now and 2016, not to actually retire (we'll see).

    Which one?

Exciting end to the heptathlon for a change. Ashton Eaton was being interviewed on BBC and telling how his wife nearly hit him in the face with her javelin.

for Isinbaeva back on top. Such a great personality and you could see what a huge star she is in Russia.

In the walking events, people usually get DQ'ed if they are spotted using a running motion, i.e. both feet off the ground. No idea if this is what happened here, but it's the most likely explanation.

When you get three warnings for "lifting", you get disqualified. It happened that Sokolova was in the stadium on her way to a bronze medal when she got booted out by the officials.

Men's 50 km walk on now, I am sure the guy tweeting for Iaaf is a great fan of race walking

And they're off. Like a Tolstoy novel, the 50km walk will be lengthy and develop slowly but carry a story of tremendous scope. #Moscow2013
    then

No, the Tolstoy metaphor does not imply that any of the walkers are likely to fall in front of trains. #Moscow2013
He has around 3 hours to keep tweeting like this...

    He'll probably finish FORTH again.

Meanwhile, Nick Symmonds (USA) has dedicated his silver medal to his gay and lesbian friends. And hasn't been arrested yet as far as we know.

He is in the leading trio... as for work, it is always over rated.

now he is part of a two athletes going well.
