Canada actually won a medal the first weekend! Damian is really a huge talent and glad to see he followed it up and the expectations with a medal here. Takes a little bit of the pressure off of Drouin and Armstrong who realistically are the only other real medal contenders. 4X100 possibly but there's a lot of drama and politics there so I don't see them doing much.

Really glad to see Bolt took out Gatlin, drug cheats should be banned for life IMO. I'm sure this well help with the recent drug tests in Jamaica, so hopefully it takes the sting out of it a little bit for them.

I was really impressed with Christine. I still think Montsho will win but it should be a heck of a final. Thank goodness Bolt beat Gatlin

Couple of shocks in the women's 400m hurdles qualifying today - Kaliese Spencer (Jamaica) disqualified for illegal hurdling technique, and Georganne Moline (USA) fell and did not qualify.

I had heard the Jamaican team were appealing so I guess it wasn't successful.

Yes, the Jamaican appeal was rejected.

Top 5 in the heptathlon after 5 events:
1 Ganna Melnichenko UKR 2135 Points

2 Brianne Theisen Eaton CAN 2115 Points

3 Nafissatou Thiam BEL 2092 Points

    4 Katarina Johnson-Thompson GBR 2068 Points

5 Sharon Day USA 2065 Points
Happy to see KJT up there although I expect her to drop a bit once they start the throwing events. The whole thing is wide open this year with the all the top 5 from London 2012 missing.
