They may not have been looking at GB's exchanges and when they saw Team GB celebrating confidently it might not have crossed their minds.

But now there is a review under way....

Germany should also protest, it seems US may have also stepped outside...

I understand that. That being said, *GASP*! USA needs to be DQed as well. If Canada was DQed last year for running about a centimetre out of their lane in the relay. GB and USA I'm sorry, but that was absolutely blatant. I'd be moving Canada up to silver and Germany up to bronze... Absolute DQ's...

Gatlin was about two feet inside Bolt's lane... Absolutely a huge violation. Really hoping officials do the right thing and DQ USA and Team GB here. Fair is fair.

Team GB is DQed from the 4X100 relay... Absolutely gut-wrenching for Adam Gemili... I feel terrible for him, he's such a huge star in the making but that second to last exchange was way outside of the zone. Canada gets a bronze medal, and possibly silver... Really hoping USA is DQed as well.

It is fair for Canada to get the medal, after all they lost a medal in a similar fashion at the Olympics.

Gatlin stepped into the outer line, not inner, though. In that case the ground for disqualification is whether he was or wasn't hindering Bolt, I think.

Well Russia weren't DQ'd for running outside their lane in the mens 4x400m heats. Had they done that then GB might have had the bronze there - despite the ridiculous selection and order for the final. I'm absolutely fine with GB's DQ but I'm not fine with the inconsistency with which teams are DQ'd. Gutted for Gemili as I really think he's wonderful but Team GB just HAVE to get their relay s*%t sorted once and for all.

This. The reason you get disqualified for running on the inside line is because then you are running a shorter distance. If you run on the outside, you are actually running further.

I agree 100% floskate. I haven't seen the 4X400 heats but I did hear about the blatant violation by the Russians, so I agree they likely should have been DQed based on what I was hearing. I think the USA in the women's 4X100 as well had grounds for DQ, that last botched exchange looked like to me it was outside the zone as well.

Am I glad that Canada got a medal? Of course, but I'm gutted for Adam Gemili, he seems like such a sweetheart and I've never not seen him without a smile on his face, but these are the adversities that you learn about and learn to overcome. He will be an Olympic and World medalist one day. That being said there was a bad exchange and they paid the price for it. It's unfortunate. All the potential is there for them to be amongst the best. Though I do wish Dwain Chambers would slink back to wherever it is he came from... He just taints it for me...

    IAAF Newflash across my phone:

France is DQed in the women's 4X100 . That shocks me. GB steps up to bronze! Congrats to the women! That is a bit curious to me though, I don't recall the French doing anything too dangerous but then again I wasn't paying close attention. So it is six medals afterall for Team GB!

Somebody somewhere really wanted GB to reach their medal target.

Related to track: HBO is now showing "Glickman". Relevant also due to the discrimination he encountered due to be Jewish and going to the Berlin Olympics.
