Well, Royal or not.....if Cristina was involved in wrongdoing, then she should have to face the consequences....

Estelle is too stinkin' cute! I smile at most photos of her and her parents because they truly radiate happiness.

I was hoping to hear her name had been announced today, but nothing yet. Poor George, he's really going to be surrounded by girls at Family Events for the next few years when it's Play Time.

Congratulations to Mike and Zara and I can't wait for our first look of little Miss Tindall!!

The Queen is clearly hoping Charles is never King and is clearly intent on outliving him so he will never have her job...or not:

Or it could be that she is gradually allowing him to take over due to her age and to ensure a smooth transition when the time comes.

    Lovely name!
A good rant is cathartic. Ranting is what keeps me sane. They always come from a different place. Take the prime minister, for example. Sometimes when I rant about him, I am angry; other times, I am just severely annoyed - it's an important distinction. - Rick Mercer

I wouldn't rely on either of them for authoritative information.

I see no reason for outrage at what she said. She could have omitted the "boring" comment but it's absolutely true. Once Charles married Camilla & all the uproar died down, they haven't said or done much of note in years. And heavens knows QE2 & Phillip sure aren't the most thrilling couple around.

As for what she said about Diana, she said she was very fond of her & that she had an enormous amt of goodness in her. But didn't you ever think the same - that she was terribly young & gauche & uneducated to be a future head of state? She was a HS graduate with no additional education.

She had the usual education for a person of her station/class.
    Finishing school/speaking French/piano lessons, etc.

My comment above was not meant to denigrate Princess Diana at all.

I agree - and the Daily Mail has certainly posted a headline that isn't in sync with the actual interview they have referred to. Princess Michael was stating facts and the DM has chose to take two words out of context from it and use these to push their point of view!!

Actually, she wasn't even a high school graduate (or the British equivalent). She failed all her "O" levels, which meant that she had about a 10th grade education in NA terms, if that.
I know. But I do not approve. And I am not resigned.

She didn't say the Queen and Prince are boring: she said that people in general think they are boring.

I think they were sensationalizing her comments to make them sound gossipy. She spoke fondly of Diana, but noted she lacked education. Which she did. And she didn't say she thinks the elder royals are uninteresting, merely that they are "boring" as far as being used as entertainment for the nation.

Is that what "the Royals" are meant to do; provide "entertainment" for the nation?
This American respects them more than that!

Historically, in almost all cultures, they have served that role- among many others.

It would be absolutely naive to think they don't. The young royals have every exploit documented. This isn't a new thing, though perhaps more intrusive than it used to be.

Would the current Queen be surprised by that?
I doubt that she would put that in a description of her duties/function.

I would be shocked if she was surprised. Her life has been followed since she was a young girl. Even American children kept scrapbooks collecting pictures of her and her sister. Job description or not, they are public figures who are a source of entertainment. Being "boring" doesn't effect their ability to lead.

If their only purpose was to lead, their personal lives would be irrelevant and the press (especially when royals controlled it) would not cover their children. The entire extravagance of holding court in past days would not have existed.
