Max Aaron is doing a Reddit AMA (ask me anything) July 16 starting at 11:00 AM

    In the IAMA subreddit http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/

Reddit can be a bit...rowdy...at times. It's full of 20 somethings, mostly males. If you have "delicate" sensibilities you may not like the place much.

Anyway, thought some of you might be interested.

I'm surprised USFSA is allowing this.

He's going to get some... interesting questions.

I was a bit wary because I didn't have a reddit, but it takes literally two seconds and you don't even need an email address to do it with. So you could join for tonight and then ditch it if you wanted.

Here's the actual AMA. Some odd questions, some good ones coming through so far. 46 questions in five minutes!

I'm pretty impressed with the number of questions so quickly, as well as the lack of insensitive questions. Hopefully he gives some good answers!

Eh, he had to know they'd be coming. I'm wondering if he will answer them.

I'm surprised by his favorite jump: triple axel. Not a quad.

    A nicely-done 3A often looks better than a 4-anything, IMO.

I don't disagree. Just surprised since he is pretty much known for quads.

I was glad to see familiar "faces" at the AMA...misskarne, Skittl1321...and we each had at least one question answered...AWESOME!

I think he ended up answering about three of mine. I had to give up because it was so late (early?) and I was so tired and he was still going.

Although I think this response just won the ENTIRE AMA:

TightAssHole123 -5 points 8 hours ago Are you in fact a closeted gay homosexual?

I mean, how straight can you be wearing tights and doing ballet and stuff?

    MaxTAaron[S] 12 points 8 hours ago

    Real men wear tights.

    and doing ballet and stuff?
There is someone uninformed about figure skating...might be the first time Max Aaron has been mistaken for 'doing ballet and stuff'. (And I love Max's skating...)

Someone on the thread did learn that the jump isn't a sow-cow; so it was informative to non-figure skaters.

Wish he could have answered questions longer though!

I was interested to hear he did gymnastics when he was younger. He's certainly got the body type for it I would imagine.

His mom also did gymnastics when she was young.

Mindy Aaron, a petite former competitive gymnast and neonatal intensive care nurse, believed her son had more in the tank. After taking time off, Max came to the same conclusion and shrugged off past verdicts. He returned to Colorado Springs, where he works with coach Tom Zakrajsek and has shared practice sessions with former U.S. champ Ryan Bradley and two-time defending world gold medalist Patrick Chan of Canada.

Max did a great job with the AMA. He really comes across as a thoughtful and nice guy with a good sense of humor. And good for the USFSA to support skaters using various social media to promote the sport.

I didn't get to the AMA in time, oh well. Love the fact that he's a Red Wings fan, but I wonder how Gracie feels about that with her being a Blackhawks fan...
