Sandra Bezic interviewed by Pj Kwong on Open Kwong Dore podcast

This new interview is just under 60 minutes long:
What is there to say about a woman who has been on the leading edge of skating on and off the ice for most of her life?

    How about this:

Skate Canada Hall of Famer Sandra Bezic, along with her brother Val, was a five-time Canadian Pair champion, and who represented Canada at the Olympic Games in Sapporo in 1972.

Once she retired from amateur skating, she went on to become the first dedicated choreographer for figure skaters. Athletes she has created programs for included: Olympic Champions Brian Boitano, Kristi Yamaguchi and Tara Lipinski, as well as World champions Kurt Browning and Barbara Underhill and Paul Martini and a legion of other skating luminaries.

Turning her attention to show skating, Sandra was the choreographer and director for Stars on Ice touring show for 11 years, winning an Emmy for the TV Broadcast in 2003. She was the visionary behind many skating specials and two-time Gemini Award winner for a special each for Kurt Browning and Brian Orser.

Today you will find Sandra prepping for another round as a commentator and analyst for NBC for the Olympics – a gig she has held for more than 20 years. For Canadians, she is the beloved judge, co-creator and producer of the Battle of Blades skating competition television show returning to CBC in the Fall of 2013.

Pj was thrilled to be able to connect with Sandra in this fascinating interview that runs the gamut from Sandra’s early years right through to what’s happening today.
"Randy [Starkman (1960-April 16, 2012)] lived by the same motto as the rest of us. The Olympics isn’t every four years, it’s every single day. He just got it." --Canadian Olympic kayaker Adam van Koeverden
