(This could just as easily have gone in Other Sports, or even Politically Incorrect, but I'm hoping the wider sociology of it makes it okay here.)

Just read this excellent article in The Walrus: Watching Like a Girl.

Now I'm only a very occasional male-team-sports fan myself, and I certainly don't go to the games armed with stats. But I have been in other male-dominated situations where my motives have been questioned, so I can certainly relate to the writer's experience and feelings. Most recently was at a craft beer event -- I was there with a female friend, and the guys around us kept wanting to "explain" the beers to us! WTF?

Anyway, it's a good article, and is just one more story to highlight the fact that, though we've come a long way baby, there's still a long road to go.
