Haunting the Princess of Pink since 20/07/11...
This is great news Thanks for sharing, Really!
Common sense prevailed. Yay!!
We live in an ageist society where everything is based on youth, but I hated being 18. I don't like teenagers any more now than I did then. I'm 49 now and there is no way that I'd go back to my teens and 20s - even if I knew what I know now, I don't want to go through all that again. I found it a very difficult time. - Buzz Osborne of the Melvins
So glad to hear this news - it would have been such a shame to lose it.
This is great news. I was privileged to be able to be coach at the Glenora as a guest coach on numerous occasions (something that didn't happen lightly) in the late 80s and early 90s. The Glenora was an awesome breeding ground for so many Canadian and indeed US champions (Kristi). Everyone was alive with ideas, sharing information and supporting each other. It was fabulous and how coaching should happen. Jan and Cynthia Ullmark have to rank up there for me as some of the best. I will never forget watching Cynthia teach a beginner the mechanics of learning a back spin. She would then go on to coaching one of the top skaters and all her students were treated with the same respect and attention. Pure gold. Jan Ullmark is the same, always knew his stuff and was always willing to impart his knowledge. Love them both. What struck me most was the level of caring and sharing by the coaches, which flowed on to the athletes. Bonds and memories were made that are precious. God it was fun - and productive.
It would have been awful to lose a club with such an iconic place in skating.
