What if they go to worlds and they don't win anyways lol. I'm still trying to figure out how to get to Canadians next year and now I have all these people scaring me saying its going to be freezing and it'll feel like I'm in a blizzard that time of year. For somebody that would be going from sunny California, I have no idea what kind of clothes you're supposed to wear for that.

    Welcome asianfsfan!"

    Hi everyone,

Whole week I and Iggie have been working with my thoughts on VM free dance music choices. It was a pleasure to work with her, and I really appreciate how much time she spent on editing all of this. I'm really happy of what we both did, and I really hope you'll like it too!

I am honestly in awe of everything that you wrote. That is amazing. I find music theory so cold - I signed up for it in college and I dropped it after one class because I just didn't get it. What you have done is to make this music so relatable to me as a listener. You've taken concepts like tempi and major/minor key and actually made me understand how they inform the music. I love the idea that the music goes from "shy" to "brave" and the way you explained how this music only makes you think about the good things in nature. I feel like you unlocked all of those technical things and laid out all the emotions for those of us who don't know about music.

I love that you were able to break down almost 70 minutes of music that I would normally say "yes, that's pretty" and really explain it.

I think you are right, Scriabin will be the end of the program. I really can't wait to know which parts they'll pick now! Your post also gives me some perspective on how difficult it must have been to put this program together because they are in different scales and not parallel... I have no idea what that means, but your explanation was great. I also love how you talked about all their past programs as a comparison. Me, I just go by what sounds pretty... lol. I am glad you mentioned this ballet is usually "light" because I think that's what Tessa and Scott are going for this season in both SD and FD, to combat the heaviness of the waltz and Carmen.

V&M are lucky to have such knowledgeable fans No doubt they will put lots of love and care into this music/program.

Every season they impress me.
    Welcome!

Never disappoint...Have to say they did an impressive debut in August! I have to admit there were parts which I felt was missing something (middle part where the Muskrat ramble music part is).
The middle section is entirely devoted to the Finnstep compulsory dance patterns that every team has to incorporate into their SD. I think they're doing all they can with that section.

After i read your comments and listening parts, wich you think they could use, i now better understand how this FD could look like, i like Glazunov more, then when i listening him first time. I think there is beautifull watzes and i like “Petit Adagio”.
Tessa said Glazuniv will be at the begining and Scriabin’s “Piano Concerto in F-sharp minor" at the finale.
Its amazing, how they could only 4 minutes from both musical parts. I think its VERY difficult. They are sich a hardworkers. I cant even imaging now how this music cuts will sound on ice. That why i love them - they bever choose an easy way.
I can imaging Tessa-balerina in this FD
Catherine, thank you for help and its amazing how taleneted you are

This is great news. They must be working on the SD again. I can only see it gets better and better. How perfect it would be by the time Olympics rolls around, I can't wait to see their second outing.

Thank you for such a warm welcome!

Hi MissJD, my apologies for my literal mind

Speaking of Worlds, I was floored at what transpired last season. Carmen was absolutely captivating, daring and innovative. Not to mention, difficult. Regardless of how it was (under)scored, it was a program that made people take notice. Edgy and modern without compromising the expected elements, lines and edges. That season was nothing short of a travesty. I noticed throughout the season it wasn't that Virtue/Moir's scores weren't high enough...but that Davis/White's were grossly inflated when you compare what they actually doing. Plus, how on earth did this Canadian team get penalized with such a big deduction for something that i recall was so minute. Anyhow, I'm still scratching my head on that one...

Last season, it felt like there is full force to undermine this team. It felt like a popularity contest rather than winning based on the merits of well executed elements, lines and edges. Let's not forget the twisles! Now, I am to believe that a hop going into one is rated higher in difficulty than 3 twisles - done in unison while maintaining constant speed and direction...and coming from one element into another? Boggles the mind....

My two biggest concerns this season are:

One, I recall somewhere where Virtue/Moir are distinguished as artists and Davis/White as athletes. However, with the Olympics coming up and emphasis on what makes a strong athlete, etc, this aspect is coming into play. I feel Virtue/Moir will be (unfairly) regarded only as such (by the very same forces who hope to undermine them)...when actual fact/evidence show that they have THE combination of athlete AND artist in their field. No doubt!

Two, will we go through a repeat of the judging between these two teams yet again - where the Canadian team will be scrutinized and penalized for every minute unmet expectations in GOE and PCS in comparison to that-should-be-good-enough-pass score card to the American team? It's not just unfair to the Canadian team but also other ice dancer teams who actually deliver their best GOE and PCS...

Pretty sure, I am stepping on someone toes especially with that last question/comment

As to their new SD, (if evident from their CD in 2009), they have the most natural and believable Finn Step (on skates) I've ever seen. I don't have problem with them executing that pattern in particular. In the Muskrat ramble section, they did a lot of multi directional movements and great change of close holds while maintaining speed. All difficult made look easy...but somehow, I'm just not feeling it as much I did at the music parts to "Heaven". Again, it's just my opinion. Feel free to disagree

AsianFSFan, I love your description of Virtue and Moir. They have the perfect combination of athleticism and artistry, which is why they are so respected by the ice dancing community. To me, they are the epitome of what ice dance is about.

Its great that we have both you and AsianFSFan as part of our group.

I also have some concerns about marking ( both over and undermarking as the case may be) and appreciation for the difficulty of their programs.
However, this being their last season I am just going to enjoy each skate of theirs and not upset myself.

Like Zhulin said about his teams SD - who care about dance, they need to made all key-points and get level 4
I think they will work more now on pattern dance. So will see, who it will be look like at next competition. I think with Jean Marc they now re-working the last "Cheak to cheak" part. And maybe working on Finnstep characters. Compare to levels at SC last season they improved a lot in this August.

Agree. You know, i re-watched this SD maybe more times, then last season both programs (usually i like to watch live competitions more). And i enjoy it every tme i find new nuances every time i watch it. And this time i feel happinest of Tessa in this dance, her light skating, her body moves is something to die for.
So i am happy i could enjoy this SD without ever nerves. Hope the same will be with there FD. But who knows.

Well I hope they don't rework the ending pose! I looooove it! So cleaver with the cheek to cheek. I bet the judges didn't even get it! I also hope they keep the twizzles. They're swoon worthy!

It looks like they're in a house. I wonder who's. Or maybe it's just a random room at the rink.

Are those VM on the pic on the wall? I forgot my glasses at home, but it seems to me that's a couple skating? Is it?
