Some place competitive and athletic, but ultimately more like an audition than anything else.

I have often wondered what the interactions between Belusova/Protopopov and Gordeeva/Grinkov were like ... a quarter century apart but they both reach me in a similar way.

I voted for Volosozhar & Trankov since hopefuly it will send out unofficial vibes for them to skate until 2018, win all the titles until then, and challenge themselves more than they are doing now.

How can Underhill & Martini be on this list while Mishkutenok & Dmitriev are not? I kid, I kid - I know mileage varies...

Why not make another poll to correct the one you made to correct the first one?

We all know how contrary you are.

I voted for someone called Szowpoly.

I loved their Baltic Avenue and Marvin Gardens programs. Go to Jail was a bit cheesy, however. ETA: Okay, that was bad. I should go.

I felt tempted to pick Shen and Zhao, but I think that was personal bias, so I went with G&G.

(Being nitpicky) who are D/M? In pairs the lady's name always comes first. Should be M&D.

I picked B&S because I had protested their absence.

It's hard to compare pairs from different eras. You can't really compare the Protopopovs with G&G- different standards. Both were great.

You can't really compare M&D with G&G, in a way because their styles were so different. In some ways I like M&D better; in other ways G&G.

I picked B&S because they had the best qualities of the great pairs they followed. They had Rodnina-Zaitsev's speed, G&G's quiet movement & unison across the ice, The Protopopovs lines, and M&D's creativity. They brought new moves into pairs skating and with their Chaplin program they played characters and went beyond what pairs skating used to be. I wish they had been more consistent, but they were a complete package, overall, where pairs skating was considered.

    Finally, I can't really pick one out of B&S, M&D and G&G.

I don't feel that some of the pairs in the poll really belong here, but I am sure their fans will see something that I may have missed.

Had Berezhnaya & Sikharulidze been more consistent they would have been unbeatable from 1997-2002. Nobody could touch them if they skated cleanly but sadly they almost never did.
