Marina called Didier Gailhaguet who thought that the comeback was a wonderful idea.He reminded her that he tried to make them come back in 2006 and 2010 but they were not ready at the time.
Gwendal knows about the project but is currently doing scuba-diving in a paradise island.
The Sports ministry will partially help them financially, but they are still looking for sponsors. Marina would come back to France if they can make it work financially.
There is a quote from Zazoui:" Rules have changed so much since 2002; it would require an enormous amount of work."

I'm really having a hard time buying this as a serious comeback. It's mid-June with only eight months to go until the Olympics, they're not training together yet, the logistics are not sorted out, and this after 11 years away from competition, no experience with the IJS and them at least a decade older than everyone else in the field? I would be shocked if this is more than a publicity stunt.

Do Marina, Gwendal, Didier, Muriel, or anyone in their entourage seriously believe they can contend for gold, let alone a medal, in Sochi?

If yes, then, sure, there's a lot to work on.

If no, then it's their prerogative as to whether to come back just for the fun of it, and to make whatever statement it is they want to make.

I have yet to see any comment on the matter from Gwendal or Gailhaguet. The only person who seems to consider this a viable project at this point is Marina.

If no, then it's their prerogative as to whether to come back just for the fun of it, and to make whatever statement it is they want to make.
With all due respect to A/P, it is not their prerogative. They are not automatically entitled to a comeback for the fun of it when there are other French teams in the mix.

To your last point, yes and no. It is their prerogative as to returning to competition and shooting for the Olympics, as long as they are eligible for competition and they are returning because they really want to.

At the same time, they aren't - or ought not to be - entitled to an Olympic spot unless they can actually earn it. They won't know if they're able to earn it if they don't try.

If they earn it, whether they did so unfairly (through and POLITIKS) or fairly will be up for endless debate. If they did so unfairly, then yes, they will have 100% robbed other French teams . If they do qualify for the Olympics fairly, in a way that demonstrates that they are clearly better than the alternatives, then I don't see what the problem is, other then excessive sensitivity and a misplaced sense of entitlement in favor of the other teams.

If anything, this should be a big warning to the other French teams to step up their game.

I feel like I'm in a dream. But it can't be a dream because there are no boy dancers!

    I think it is pre-wuzrobbing both P/B and P/C.

What are the chances that it will be a remotely fair contest if Gailhauguet has been encouraging Anissina/Peizerat's comeback, especially with PCS factors of > 1?

They could do some sort of gender-bender lift where Gwendal, um, dives down there... assuming Rasputin would allow it.

With credit to PrincessLeppard - all Gwendal needs is a cape and they'll be all set.

I just looked it up. Marina will be 38 at the Olympics. Gwendal will be 41. Have any skaters this old competed recently in ice dancing?

For me that happened when I saw Papadakis/Cizeron [unpopular opinion] I can't stand them, especially her. [/unpopular opinion]

But the CoP has protocols, with numbers, and levels, and stuff! All you have to do is look at the protocols and you'll understand why they deserved their spot!

Nozomi Watanabe turned 35 while competing in Toronto. Honestly, age isn't the first issue that comes to mind here.

I'm not crazy about P/C, but C/J started growing on me this past season. If any French ice dancers were to make a come back just for the sake of voidiness, why couldn't it be Loup/Bouquet :

This is just fascinating. Even as a publicity stunt. Even the idea of this as a publicity stunt.

Wouldn't they have to get the minimum tech score for SD and FD at a qualifying comp first?

Also, last time I saw a pic of Gwendal, he had short hair. How long can be grow it in 8 months? This is VERY important. How on earth will he compete with White otherwise??

I can't say I am not intrigued if they really try for a comeback. But I doubt it will happen.
