Mila Kajas has been working with tv before, and does fine. I guess she could still compete as a skater in this show, too!
Mika Saarelainen was the male announcer in the Helsinki Europeans 2009. He is also a very good performer. He is a former ice dancer and nowadays a judge.
Anuliisa Uotila is our beloved tv-commentator and coach.

I recognized more skaters than celebrities (just based on faces)... But that probably tells more about me than how famous or infamous the celebs actually are.

There are some Finnish male skaters, who have represented us in international championships: Mikko Minkkinen, Ari-Pekka Nurmenkari and Sasha Palomäki. It is good to see the former Finnish junior champion Tommi Piiroinen there, too. I liked his style.

Maija, I shall also cheer for Tiina Blake!

The celebs are a bit blaah. But it tells more about me than them. But I hope that this show will show to the audience how demanding ice dancing really is.

Me, too! I know the skaters better (f.ex. my daughter Tiina)
Most of the skaters are former single skaters. All the girls are also skated in ice shows (one in Blackpool and others in Disney on Ice).

    The skaters are:
    Men:
    Tommi Piiroinen
    Aapo Turpeinen
Sasha Palomäki (the only one who is a former ice dancer!)
Mikko Minkkinen (skated f.ex. in Europeans)
Ari-Pekka Nurmenkari (skated many times in Europeans and Worlds) (Most of you remember him! )

    Ladies:
    Nea Ojala
    Eveliina Pöllänen
    Pia Airaksinen
    Tiina Blake
    Jenni Calvert

PML, only on FSU would we be more interested in the skaters. Who cares about the celebs, meh.

Although I AM interested in how quickly they'll be able to learn anything.

I think Ari-Peka Nurmenkari could be a good fit for a Belami movie too

It will, finally, start (on TV) next Saturday (28.9.2013).

After seeing some videoclips from practices I can say that they have learned a lot in a month!

    Official page (in Finnish)

Facebook page with links to the fb pages of each pair (They use both Finnish and English).

    Hard to wait!

Ah this just started 20 minutes ago and I'm already ! Ah the kitsch! I know it's not the same as "real ice dancing" but OMG, the role of showmanship seems to be times 10 compared to normal.

Laura Lepistö has a very visible role, she's becoming quite the media person! Someone needs to tell her to put her legs closer together when she stands though.

thanks for the link ! I would not have recognised Minko Minkinnen. I also remembered Ari-Pekka as thin and tall, he seems more bulky now.

This performance got most points from the judges yesterday: http://www.nelonen.fi/ohjelmat/danci...aitoluistelija (Sinuhe Wallinheimo, a member of Parliament and a former ice hockey goalkeeper, and my daughter Tiina Blake).
