    Wait, what??

No. Just no. And I very much like Ben Affleck, but it's Bale or nothing. Maybe Levitt would have made me not seethe, but that's it. No.

I love Nolan's trilogy, but I think it's best to leave it behind. Or maybe that means I'm selfish and don't want this new franchise tarnishing my precious Nolan Batfilms.

Whoa. Really? I thought he was going more into the directing side of things...didn't think he'd sign on for a huge franchise like that! Cra cra.

People are thinking he might have negotiated directing the next solo Batfilms if he did this. That's not a bad gig, although the post-Nolan guy has got to have some brass balls. But Affleck might be up for the job.

No disrespect to Ben Affleck but I really don't see him as Batman.

away. Well, FSU might not care, but a lot of folks online are very opinionated on this.

    Matt Damon should be Robin.

Well, he's already played the drunk version of Superman.

Anyway, I think in a movie like this a good presence and physicality is about all that is needed. The dialogue isn't exactly going to be Shakespeare, so the world's greatest acting chops aren't necessary. I wouldn't say I find Affleck to be ideal, but it doesn't scream "miscast" either. Anyway, this is not an expansion of the Nolan trilogy anyway. As I understand it, it's more a sequel to this year's "Man of Snooze Steel."

    And Jennifer Garner Catwoman xD

Am I the only one who's happy with that choice?
I mean, I already know it won't be a great movie, and I find Affleck an average actor most of the time but I also think he's hot (may I say on this board he's a dilf? :S). Anyway, Cavill and Affleck together. Looking forward to some serious bromance there, haha.

I finally got the chance to catch "Blue Jasmine." I thought the acting was very strong, but overall it was kind of a sex-less "Streetcar Named Desire," which is rather a shame with the porny Bobby Cannavale in the "stand-in" Stanley role.

There are petitions all over the Internet calling for them to fire Affleck. I mean, I understand being really disappointed with a casting choice, but good grief!

TDKR was still in theaters a year ago, and for many people it was a seriously iconic series that actually meant something to them - like moi. I am not even slightly amused by their decision to re-cast Batman so soon and absolutely have no intentions of supporting this movie.

They did not want to re-cast this movie. They wanted Bale. So much so that I heard they offered him 50 million. I've never heard of anyone getting close to such a humongous offer to be in one movie. So if there is anything or anyone that one should NOT support...it'd be Christian Bale.
It's official. I am madly in love with Meryl Davis.

I don't mind Christian Bale not continuing as Batman because I thought they were gong with the officer Blake character as Batman. But not with Gordon-Levitt in the role.

If there's anyone the Nolan series meant something to, it's me, and I understand WB will make more Batman movies. Just the nature of the business. Considering that Man of Steel didn't take off as much as they'd hoped, it's really no surprise that they're bringing Batman back so soon. No one will forget the Nolan Batfilms anytime, and I'm glad they're quitting on the storyline while they're ahead. No one I knew (even among my comic book friends) wanted to see JGL as Batman, and Bale coming back would invalidate a huge part of TDKR. I'm glad they're leaving it untarnished, so to say.

I'm still not that pleased with the inclusion of Batman in the next Superman movie, mostly because I feel that Superman was just coming into his own in Man of Steel, and now I fear he will be overshadowed in his own movie by big Bats.

Robert Downey Jr ended up making that much on The Avengers, but not upfront. He signed for a portion of the box office profits in exchange for a smaller upfront fee, and the movie took off and he made $50 million on it.

Affleck had supposedly been in talks for a while, so I'm not sure how true the "Christian Bale was offered $50 million" is. Offers like this don't just materialize in mere days.

The positive thing about this is that Affleck is no slouch in the writing department, and I'd bet money that part of his contract also includes a pass through the script. If he really is to be the next Batman director, better to have his Oscar-winning talents contribute to the introduction of the character in this new franchise. I can't imagine him just showing up on set for when they call action. Not with the resume he now has behind the camera.

I'm sure Christian Bale was offered a points-deal like Robert Downey, Jr. and not a flat fee of $50M. However, he flat out said after the last "Dark Knight" film he was not interested in doing any more Batman films. Aside from which, this new production has, as I've stated before, nothing to do with the Nolan trilogy. The fact that people are about it is absolutely head-scratching. I can only surmise that the stench that was "The Dark Knight Rises" has been quickly forgiven by the masses.

It makes me respect Bale all the more: that he's so obviously not in it for the money. Yes or no to the $50 million rumours aside, he could have written his own cheque, but obviously thought that story was done. Or wanted no part in continuing it in that particular universe. I say cudos to him for that. He doesn't owe us anything, we have no right to expect or demand that he continue the role just because WB wants to wring more money out of the franchise.

Just got back from The World's End. What an absolute hoot. Not a perfect film -- it was a little too much the Simon Pegg show, and I would have liked a bit more balance. But that does end up being somewhat the point, sort of ... and of course he is a very entertaining guy. Anyway, very fun movie, and beer drinking before and/or after is highly recommended.

Maybe it's because as much of a stench as some people believed TDKR was (clearly not all), it's still 10000x better than a few previous Batman movies. (coughBatmanandRobincough)

The guy may be a diva about acting, considering his tirade on the Terminator Salvation set. But one thing he most definitely is not is a "celebrity." He lives in a regular house, and wears whatever the heck he feels like. Usually free movie crew shirts/hats and cargo pants.
