They don't look like potato chips this time, so that's an upgrade.

I like design, silver looks better than gold medal though.

I love these. Much better than Vancouver! They are works of art. The winter medals tend to be the most interesting looking. The 1992, 1994, and 1998 medals all had cut outs with a non-metal material in the center. The Beijing medals are the only Summer medals I can think of that also had this effect. The 2006 medals had cut outs with nothing in the center. For some reason the winter ones are more avant garde.

    I agree!

Although I still like the 2006 CD medals the best!

What do you guys think? I think these are probably my favorite design since Nagano.

Well, Steve Jobs would have preferred Vancouver medal over Sochi medal. So do I.

I don't know. I think the plain portion of the medal is too plain. It looks better from a distance than from close-up.

Organizers presented the medals featuring a "patchwork quilt" design representing the different regions of Russia, which will be hosting its first Winter Games next February in the Black Sea resort.
Still no word on what the center portion material is? It is transparent but is it glass? Plastic?

    They look good.

Still like Lillehammer the very best. The Torino bagel was the absolute worst next to Salt Lake City.

I disagree. Vancouver is the ugliest, followed by Salt Lake. Both look like blobs of molten metal that was mistakenly released from the forge too early. Salt Lake has the unfortunate look of having a sculptor's error but at least the medals have a semblance of the shape of a medal. Vancouver looks like large sheets of metal that got run over by a train. I don't think Torino was ugly at all. 1992/1994 ones are a bit disappointing because the medals are not metal but mostly granite or crystal and don't have any kind of sheen to them but they are at least a pretty design.

    I liked the Vancouver medals.

But I think that the Torino medals were awful and I've never liked the Salt Lake City ones either. My favorite is still Nagano with Lillehammer closely following. I liked Albertville's medals, too.

I liked them too. In person, the Vancouver medals are actually quite stunning.

I agree with this statement. While they may not have looked great on TV in person they were beautiful. I do like these as they put me in a hybrid of Nagano and Lillehammer, both of which I liked.

Was not a fan of Torino's medals and holding one in my hand it didn't look any better than on TV.

I liked the Vancouver medals: they were made cut of a larger piece of artwork, and each medal is different, but linked to the whole. I also loved the design of the Torino bagels.
