I had no idea The Book Thief was being made into a movie. I'm not sure how well it'll translate but it's a gorgeous story. I really hope they do it justice. Can't wait for Ender's Game. My Dad and I have a date

It looks like The Book Thief will not even have the character Death in it at all? I guess I can see how they would just focus on the girls story but the book worked because of Death, as well. I will definitely be seeing it.

I just watched the trailer for Bad Grandpa and died laughing. I thought it would be more like Jackass but this is more of a movie/Jackass hybrid. I am curious to see how it works.

    Just screened "Getaway."

Studios usually screen week of release if a movie is really bad to shorten the time bad reviews can circulate.

It was pretty much the worst movie I've seen all summer.

The author has confirmed that the movie is narrated by Death, but they have not released the name of the actor playing Death yet.

The movies in the poll I'm most looking forward to are:

    1. Don Jon - I mentioned at the end of the last thread how much I loved this trailer. Surprised that after watching so many additional trailers that it remained my favourite...but it DOES look like a perfect movie.

    2. The Fifth Estate - This looks BRILLIANTLY directed, a must-see

    3. Captain Phillips - Another wonderfully directed movie, an edge-of-your-seat thriller. I'm ready, Mr. Hanks!!

    4. Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa - This trailer TOTALLY took me by surprise because I think the Jackass movies are IDIOTIC. But this is more like Sasha Baron Cohen's movies where it's performance art in a public setting with cameras catching unsuspecting reactions from people. Looks like it could be a LOT of fun.

    5. Last Vegas - LOTS of great lines in the trailer, let's hope they didn't use up all the good stuff in the two-minute trailer...

    6. Gravity - The first trailer I saw for this was so sparse, it left me feeling very empty. But this one is much better (although still sparse, definitely leaving us wanting more)

The new Hunger Games is a given and I'm sure I'll see Thor at some point. I still remember the scene from the first movie where Hemsworth comes out with no shirt on and just these wonderfully form-fitting black jeans....

Like my little pony, I loved the original version of Oldboy, but this one is directed by Spike Lee and stars Josh Brolin, so I have high hopes for it. I loved Lee's "Inside Man" and this is one of his few full-movie directing gigs since that, so I'm thinking he can make magic again.

The Book Thief - The trailer for this looked quite good, but if the movie moves too much towards a soppy approach, it'll be a big disappointment. Hopeful about it, though.

Ender's Game - This trailer looked so good....until the mopey little boy entered the scene. Hmm.../blah...

Grace of Monaco - With Nicole Kidman as the star, I have high hopes for it, but have to reserve judgment until they put out a trailer. But I wouldn't be surprised if this movie helps Kidman nab her fourth Oscar nomination...
It's official. I am madly in love with Meryl Davis.

I'm on my phone so I haven't had a chance to check out the trailers yet but a bunch of them look really interesting.

I've seen several movies recently. The most recent are:

Dance, Fools, Dance from 1931 and starring Joan Crawford. The movie was just ok but holy crap was Joan Crawford before she became mommie dearest.

    Gorgeous picture.

She looked beautiful with less makeup on. I don't know why she overdid it in her later years.

Django Unchained: I loved this! Probably my favorite movie of the year. Of the Oscar nominees for best picture, I've seen this, Les Miz and Argo and of the three Django Unchained was by far my favorite.

Death as the narrator worked so well in the book, but I can't see it being as effective in the movie. I'd rather they leave Death out of it completely than do it badly. But we shall see.

I'll definitely see Thor, because Hiddleston, Hemsworth, and especially Eccleston (my first Doctor). And I'll see anything that has Sharlto Copley in it, so Oldboy is a given, but I'm wondering if I should see the original first or not? I hear there's a Twist that I might not want to spoil myself for if I'm seeing this remake?

And I used to say that I'd see anything with Benedict Cumberbatch in it, too, but I can't stand Julian Assange, so I think I'll give The Fifth Estate a miss. At least until it shows up on the telly or on Netflix.

Some random thoughts about the movies listed in post#2 (ones that didn't make the poll):

So who is going to admit to having ANY interest in "Escape Plan"? Come on...who's going to admit it?? I dare you.

Very glad to see Josh Holloway with a decent sized role in a major motion picture. But "Battle of the Year"? With CHRIS FREAKIN' BROWN??

From the little that we see of Cameron Diaz in The Counselor...it looks like someone has finally given her a role where she gets to ACT. I love it when actors who are often given so little to do finally get a role that has some meat to it.

Gladto see that Jennifer Hudson's "Winnie Mandela" is FINALLY being released...but they had to put it in theatres so close to "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom"??

And I've thought of Vince Vaughn as being the biggest douche in Hollywood for quite a while, so I'm kinda unhappy that I liked the trailer for "Delivery Man" quite a bit...

Movies made for a mainly African-American audience usually don't look very well made, but this season, two really caught my eye: "The Best Man Holiday" (which looks like a lot of fun) and "Black Nativity" which looks AMAZING. Both are on my To See list.
It's official. I am madly in love with Meryl Davis.

    Gravity: Looks really gripping...

Ender's Game: Looks epic! I don't know of the book, but I'll definitely watch the movie.

Thor: Asgard is so breathtaking Loki

Cloudy with a chance of meatball II

I will also watch The hunger games, The Book Thief and probably RIddick and 12 years a slave.

And as always, thanks for all the hard work Peter

I really desperately need to see Gravity. Its the one movie coming out soon I am the most excited about.

I do want to see Thor, but not really because of Thor. I like a significant portion of the supporting cast, especially Kat Dennings and Christopher Eccleston. The first one was probably my least favourite of the pre-Avengers Marvel movies.

Catching Fire is a given for me at this point.

I will see Don Jon but I doubt it will make it here and considering who I usually go to movies with that one will probably have to wait until it shows up online or I buy it on Blu-ray.

The trailer for The Book Thief made me want to read the book. So the next time I go shopping I will be tracking that down, hopefully.

I`ll be seeing Frozen with my mom. We`ve acquired a habit of going to Disney animated movies together. And it looks really cute.
