I have been enjoying "Crossing Lines" now that it's in the shorter, 1hr, episodes. Doesn't look like it has a future, though. I was never able to get into "Motive". It looks like there are enough people liking "Under the Dome" that it could have it's own thread.

Anyone still watching "Under the Dome"? I think the biggest suspension of belief (and there are a lot of them) is Junior-the-psychopath (who keeps calling Barbie a psychopath), because because the actor looks just like Andy Samberg, and amid all his lit brooding, I'm waiting for him to bust out with Dick in a Box.
Q: Why can't I read the competition threads?
A: Competition forums on the board are available to those with a Season Pass or a premium membership How to View Kiss & Cry

    I'm still watching...for now...but wasn't very impressed with tonight's episode...thought it was kinda boring.

Hadn't thought about it, but Junior does favor Samberg.

Yeah, doesn't look to promising, does it, when it gets beat by 2 repeats. I'm enjoying it too, I find it very well written, but I'm not invested at all.

Can you tell me what happened in the second half? There was a severe thunderstorm/possible tornado north of here and they had the weather guy on from 10:30 to 11:00.

I looked to see if this episode was going to rerun on Sunday night, like the last two, so I could record it, but I don't see it.............

Not sure where the second half began, but...

Lady cop fell for the most obvious faking-being-ill from Paul the cop who went nutso for no reason that we can tell, he bonked her on the head, locked her in the cell, took the rifle and fled.

Daughter of 2 moms with the disturbingly large forehead met up with the sensitive teen boy who's got the house to himself. She invites herself over to "charge her phone" (not a euphamism...or is it?!?) since he's got a generator. She lies about her family, says she was on the way to visit her dad when the dome struck. Sensitive boy's best friend decides to invite the town's 20 billion teens over to the unsupervised electricity hub, and an older teen who's clearly up to no good decides he's king of the outlets and gets to decide who can use the power in someone else's house. We know he's no good because he brought BEER. Forehead girl challenges him with some basic 20th century US history facts, which fails to impress him. Sensitive boy prepares to get his ass kicked to save the girl, but then a power surge means no more electricity and every leaves. Immediately. Cool kids are so fickle! Older teen gives a menacing "this ain't over" to Sensitive boy before lurching out with the rest of the party circuit. Forehead girl's black mom shows up (she's been searching all over for the kid and encountering muchos provincialism re: same sex and biracial families...other mom was apparently not available for the taping of this episode), and the lie comes out.

Kidnap girl (whose name I can actually remember - Angie) somehow has a radio in the bunker and is up on the latest from the local station. She hides it when the nefarious Junior comes down with eggs. She keeps changing her strategy for dealing with him, hoping to find the right one to get her free. She mentions some tunnels that the two of them explored in better days, and says if he can find a way out through them the two of them can escape and start over.

Junior runs into Big Jim, who gives him crap for not being present at the fire last ep. As son to the most powerful guy in town, he needs to be a team player. BJ notices Junior's bruises, Junior relates that some guy named Barbie attacked him for no reason. "He's a psychopath"...which soon becomes Junior's favorite phrase.

Big Jim finds Ana Lucia (sorry, the character reminds me of a poor man's Ana Lucia from LOST), questions her ability to keep things in check, and she storms off to find Paul. BJ goes to the diner to deputize two guys who gave Mom #1 crap earlier, plus the conveniently located Barbie. They go into the woods, and Barbie proves his worth by identifying Paul's fake trail and real trail. They catch up to Paul, who shoots one diner guy in the leg but can't hit anyone else despite all of them being biggish guys standing behind tiny trees. Two diner guys head out, BJ and Barbie have a weird bro posturing snark session that ends when Paul creeps up and aims his rifle at BJ. Barbie trains HIS rifle on Paul and they're in a standoff. BANG! Paul is dead and Ana Lucia proves she's not so hapless after all.

Junior heads to the tunnels, intercepted by intrepid reporter girl and her fiery red hair. He blows her off in a very "stay away from me" way, so of course she follows him in the most obvious "stealth" way I've ever seen on tv or a movie. They go down the caves, and somehow, even though it's totally dark and Junior has a flashlight and she doesn't, she manages to NOT make any steps that would make a noise in the old decrepit place with lots of loose stones and probably beer bottles from all the kids partying. junior gets to the dome, can't get through and starts punching it in frustration. he drops the flashlight next tot eh dome and it starts vibrating. he reaches for it, and because she knows what happens to electronic/battery powered stuff by the dome, Red calls out "don't!". The flashlight explodes and the level of light in the tunnel stays exactly the same! MAGIC!!! Junior says she shouldn't have come, they try to get out but can't find their way even though Junior has been down here tons of times and it looked like he walked in a pretty straight path. Personal stories are revealed, including Junior repeating the story about Barbie-the-psychopath and Red telling us her lame story of professional blundering that led her to this podunk town. We learn that Junior would rather be called James, has always hated being called Junior. They find their way out.

Barbie and BJ almost go for a bro-drink, but then Junior and Red pull up, Junior's shiner blazing in the moonlight. Junior gives both men a loathesome look as he brushes past tot he house. Barbie says maybe another time and gets in the car with Red. BJ pours himself a scotch and a glass of milk for his son, tells Junior to man up...and to drink his milk.

    ^^ LOL!

Okay, so a glaring omission has been sticking out at me like a sore thumb...why on earth aren't either side trying to communicate? I realize that sound doesn't pass through the barrier, but hello, writing! The only time you see someone using their brain is when Barbie gets out a quick note to the other side that they should call FAA and ground flights because the dome is so high. Beyond that, nothing. Right now, Chester's Mill is getting all their information by hacking into radio waves to catch snippets of conversation. It never occurred to them that it might just be easier to set up written communication by one of the roads? I mean, the outside world would have it easy; they could just hook up a large screen TV and type out stuff; the dome folks would have to make do with, I dunno, poster board. But still, no matter how laborous it might be, it sure is a heck of a lot better than what they're currently doing. I mean, they could be getting headcounts back and forth! Figure out exactly who is inside Chester's Mill and who's missing. Fiery reporter girl could get the other side looking for her husband; I think it would come back pretty quickly that he never left the area at all (hello, vehicles?).

I also find it pretty strange that the Other side seem to be fairly indifferent to what goes on inside...for instance, the sheriff dies right there next to a group of Others when his pacemaker explodes, and everyone ignores him. Since I'm assuming that the affects of the dome goes both ways, wouldn't the Others show at least a LITTLE bit of concern? I get that they can't do anything to help, but I would think that they would want to document anything weird going on inside. Someone's heart exploding in their chest would certainly be something worth making note of.

    Sorry, ranting now...

I saw everything through the above in the first half. But, yeah, I even thought "how is she not making any noise or seeing the kid with the flashlight". Whatever.........

All that happened in the first half (it was like 10:38 when the weather alert came on) and hardly anything in the second half? Guess I didn't miss anything "exciting". I loved your descriptions though.

I think the outside world is maybe more freaked than those under the dome. I'm sure the U.S. government and military are freaked out, because if this unexplained thing can happen, who's next? Everything is completely out of everyone's control. So I'm sure the government and military have put up blockades all around the dome. Any civilians who want to get close cannot. So no communication there. Only the military could communicate and I'm sure all the military people have been told not to do so unless ordered. Only those higher up would be allowed to communicate and they would only do so if it served their purposes. And there's nothing that anyone can do anyway, so why communicate information that neither side can help the other with? That said, a few scenes with government and military officials about this would have filled in those blanks. BUT...the story is about those under the dome and how they have been isolated. Communication with the outside world would take away the dramatic isolation of the events/story.
It's official. I am madly in love with Meryl Davis.

I was wondering how long these people were going to be under the dome (it's only been like 2 days so far?) and looked up the synopsis of the book. I hope the rest of the t.v. series is more interesting than what the book synopsis says.

The only things I can think of that genevieve left out are:

Kidnapped girl managed to steal a pair of scissors when Junior brought a first aid kit into the bunker so that kidnapped girl could tend to his wounded knuckles (the result of banging on the dome).

Journalist did some snooping in Barbie's backpack. She found a map of the town, I think, but I am not sure why it is so important. I guess because it indicates that he wasn't just passing through town, but was there for a reason? So she knows that he is hiding something?

Every word you just said is exactly what I have been thinking! Why not set up a point of contact exactly like you said with inside writing messages and outside can either write, use screens, or whatever. Why isn't inside taking a roll call or documenting everyone inside. Let the outside know that that water was seeping thru when the kids found the dog. All those things are driving me nuts too.
