This category has 33 entries, which I believe is the largest ever at this event:
    http://www.deu-event.de/results/adult2013/CAT021RS.HTM

Last year there were 27(?) in one of the bronze ladies freeskate categories, which I think was the largest up to that point.

It was so nice to see a real serpentine step sequence, and she is just one rotation away from meeting the SP requirements from when she completed 25 years ago.

Midori only did 7 technical elements and everyone else did 10 or 11 but midori with her double axel and PCS makes it so that she didn't have to go 11! I wonder what her score would have been if she did all 11!! Like not even double jumps or single or whatever. To fill up all the slots. because one skater did a single single combo! Good for midori with this win but just skating is nice and being in this environment shows real enthusiasm. LOL she could be more COP friendly LOL!!

Lord knows I've needed a pick me up lately and who should provide it but my first and my ultimate favourite ladies skater Midori Ito. How can you not adore her? It speaks volumes for her talent that she is able to do this at 43 despite barely skating any more as well the horrendous injuries she has suffered over the years. This is a girl who was doing 5-6 triple LP's in 1980 aged 10 and 11, suffered at least three broken ankles and heaven knows what else we never heard about as a teenager and was completely beaten up come Albertville. And yet here she is still doing a killer double axel, her famous Y-spin and still sharing her joy and once-in-a-lifetime gift with us all. I'm so grateful to her - she has given skating so much over the years.

why isn't Midori doing all the Japanese shows right now, like COI, FOI, etc? She's so incredible and still mantains a very high technical level. Not only the 2A but the speed and flow across the ice was amazing
I wonder if she isn't invited or just misses competition

Where did time go? Midori was just 18 when I first saw her skate during the 1988 Olympics. She is still adorable. She projects the joy of skating even though she is not doing triple jumps anymore. The double axel was strong (I saw a slight slip on the landing, but great speed in and out of the jump, and great power even at age 43!), and she did two very strong double jumps (loop and toeloop). What I enjoyed the most was the way she moved across the ice, feeling the music (what music was it, BTW?)

Thank you for this thread. Midori was one of the very few skaters (the others being G&G) that made me an ultimate fan of figure skating.

We had a number of Australian skaters at that event. A couple of friends of mine were competing. One got a Silver in the Silver Ladies. Not bad from a country where figure skating is minor sport.

The adults do a choregraphic step sequence which must cover the ice. Ladies have to include a spiral as part of it.

Good to see Midori skating again. She does a better double axel than many competitive skaters.
