I feel like I'm in a dream. But it can't be a dream because there are no boy dancers!

I actually thought this was one of the best seasons, if not the best season, ever.

Holley, I'm not surprised you didn't enjoy it, you seem to have a very specific type and taste in dance and dancers. (I remember you comparing Melanie to a sack of potatoes). For me, personality is as important as technique, and I like, and can appreciate, a variety of dance styles, and I don't have a "type" for dancers. I'm really happy Amy and Fikshun won, but I would have been happy with any of the four. Watching last night's show reminded me how much I loved the sand dance, as well as the tap trio. I liked all of the choices for dances, though.

wheee, just watched Jasmine/Marko, Jenna/Mark and Tucker/Robert - all three of those dances were even better than the first performance (and I did not care for the Jasmine/Marko pairing before - here it was fantastic!)!

The personalities weren't quite as big or diverse as S2-S4, but this was definitely the best overall season since S4 and very close to the best for overall quality. So thrilled!
Q: Why can't I read the competition threads?
A: Competition forums on the board are available to those with a Season Pass or a premium membership How to View Kiss & Cry

Well, you know, I like personality too. I adored Benji and I adore Mark a ton! I think Mark and Twitch are two of the best things to ever come out of the show. I like them more than the two ballet winners from last year. I think Fic-shun has enormous personality and is an incredible performer in his own style - one of the best ever I'm sure. I love watching him in it. Maybe I should be more specific. It isn't that I only like one type of dancer by far. I find myself growing very weary of:

-The incessant praise of mediocrity from the judges. So many dances and dancers are "the best ever!" I really believe they are simply trying to prop the show up as offering excellence in dance when it's actually only mostly amusing and sometimes great....but not great as often as they claim.

-So much damn contemporary which isn't even good. Yes, an occasional jewel will emerge, but the vast majority of the contemporary is pretty banal and interchangeable. But they are touted as just the most incredible things ever choreographed!!!!!!!

-Not nearly enough ballroom. Personally, I prefer ballroom to most other forms of dance besides ballet (and its many forms). I think ballroom has been given a short shift on this show (say that 10 times!) Pasha, Heidi, Dimitri, Chelsea.....they were some of the greats. I still look forward to them as guests because of their overall quality. And I know they show ballroom or Latin on every show, but it's usually in terms of "the dreaded..." or explained how so very hard it is that it's no wonder they didn't actually DO a samba, but let's praise them anyway for trying. I don't think ballroom/Latin gets the respect it deserves.

-It's obvious that the show panders to a tween-teen audience, and that's fine. And to competition circuit mentality - not all the time but a good portion of it. I just don't care for it. There's not much there for me. If America's favorite dancers are going to be this young, maybe I'm just not the right viewer. I personally think they should raise the age limit to 21, but I know they have their marketing goals and all, and those youngsters are too important in moving merchandise.

No, I don't care for certain types of dancers - I do enjoy the long-limbed taller types in any style, but that's not my over-riding reason for being bored. As much as I like Fic-shun in his own style, I just can't have a lot of respect for the winner of a dance show not being able to point his toes or straighten his knees in anything else. It just isn't good dance in those genres, and I have no respect for that aspect of his winning. He's precious. So is Amy. And it's a popularity contest. I'm just tired of it.

Just my opinion! Don't be peeved at me for liking what I like and stating it (not that anyone is...just in case!) Yes, I still think Melanie dances like a sack of potatoes and I'm not alone in my world, but what the heck? I'm entitled to that opinion. I respect any kid who gets up there and tries. I just don't know if I'll watch it any more. But it isn't just because I only like one type of dancer.

This season revived my interest in the show. I've watched every season, but this season I felt really engaged. Not as great as seasons 2-5, but overall this season was very satisfying. I thought the long time choreographers stepped up and the new choreographers did some good work. Some excellent dancing and enjoyable personalities. Excited to see what season 11 brings.

This was the first season where I felt the true winners were not in the final four. Usually I think that at least one of the final 4 is the best, but this was the first time where I felt the best was eliminated before the finale.

Glad to know I'm not just an old crank out here. I couldn't give you any more rep, kwanfan1818, but thanks.

Who did you think were the four best?

I was happy with this F4, but I would have been happier with Paul in the F4. I also would have been fine with Makenzie or Hayley or even Jenna or Jasmine Mason in the F4.
I think I will have a snack and take a nap before I eat and go to sleep.

Yep-the people who pop into my mind if I think of this season are Tucker, Paul, Makenzie and Jenna, eyebrows and all. I was shocked that Jasmine Mason was cut first. She must have back-talked or sassed a choreographer or something, because she was just gorgeous.

My final four would definitely have included Paul, and most probably Makenzie. I'm more open as to other two spots.

I agree with others that Jasmine M. was eliminated way too early. I also wish I had seen more of Carlos.

ETA: That Tyce jazz dance Paul did with Kathryn was incredible. So much content! It's criminal that he was eliminated that same night.

Hey, did anyone see Mollee Gray auditioning on X Factor? She was with a group of 6 twenty somethings. She needs to stick to dance.

No, they didn't get through. Only 1 of the six could sing, and the "harmony" wasn't harmonious. Wouldn't be surprised if they were all HSM background dancer alums.
