So many links. I love it.

The John Curry and Torvill and Dean docs are my favorites, because they give a deeper look at the long and difficult process of composing a program. Curry's story is fascinating - he faced more challenges, personally and culturally, than many realize. He was a great artist.

Ice Diaries was a detailed look at the life of contemporary, elite skaters - their daily lives as students and elite athletes. I enjoyed that one, too.

I don't think all 6 episodes of "Ice Diaries" (featuring Alissa Czisny, Bebe Liang, Danielle Kahle, Sandy Rucker in the 2005-06 season) are on YouTube - this user has many video segments of the first 3 episodes: http://www.youtube.com/user/ca2niv

    I enjoyed this one:
    On the Inside

    Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4
"This documentary goes into the world of Amateur Figure Skating. This originally aired in the fall on 1999 on the Discovery Channel. It follows single skaters Naomi Nari Nam, Michael Weiss & Alexei Yagudin as they prepare to start the 1999/2000 season on the Grand Prix circuit."
(Nam was shown preparing for and competing at the Junior Grand Prix competition in Montreal, coached by John Nicks.)

    Thanks, Maofan7!

I didn't see figure skating documentary on TV never. In my country, the figure skating is not very significant sport. I watched some documentaries on Youtube.

ABC's Magic Memories on Ice series is my favorite. I have all three videos. I wish they were available on DVD, especially the first & third ones (the 3rd one is about the 1995-1996 season).

This is my favorite, of course the sound is not very good quality, and a German documentary, but we can understand. Very interesting. Nijinsky, Joubert, Rus Nat, ECH, WCH

Not completely off-topic, but you might try searching for CNET and YouTube Downloader to download the files, and then burn them onto DVD or VCD if you can.

I love Maestro (obviously) and the T&D documentaries. I have a Robin Cousins one called Gold on Ice based on the 1979 season which I need to upload - very interesting. The Toller documentaries are terrific but my all time fave has to be Magic Memories on Ice. I found it by chance in the UK in 1989 as a kid in an obscure videostore and immediately knew I had to have it, despite it being very expensive. We only got a VHS recorder in the mid 1980's and everything I knew about skaters before then was from books and pictures (thank you Sandra Stevenson and Howard Bass!!). MMOI brought many of those skaters to life for me for the first time and I can still watch it now despite almost knowing the script. I just love it.

Love, Pain and Ice - Alexei Yagudin. This movie was awarded the 1st prize at a sports film festival a few years back.

This isn't necessarily a documentary but a tribute to Michelle Kwan by Jim McKay during 2006 Marshalls. I felt it deserved a place here.

Sharp Edges: this is an absolutely fascinating documentary made by Sandra Luckow, which follows a then relatively unknown Tonya Harding to her first National Figure Skating competition in 1986
