A question about Figure Skating Interviews
Say I saw the 1961 Nationals on DVD and know that Commentators used to Interview the Skaters right on the Ice. Do we have a History though on why and when we switched to the Backstage Interviews of today?
I think the last Olys where the competitors were interviewed in the K&C was 1988. IMO I always thought it awkward to interview skaters so soon after getting their marks while still recovering their breath.
There were K&C interviews in the early 90s as well, at least at US Nationals. I remember a few where Tonya was hacking up a lung and someone thought it was a good idea to shove a microphone in her face.
