    So horrifying.

    This part makes me ill:

A garment factory building in Bangladesh that collapsed, killing at least 194 people, had been ordered evacuated after deep cracks became visible, but the factories flouted the order and continued working, officials said Thursday.

In a story I read yesterday, the workers asked not to have to come in after they saw the cracks, but the factories stayed open and they had to work. I can't find the article on the CBC website, so the above might be an updated version of that article.

More exploitation and massive tragedy in a bid to provide cheap clothes for the West. So many of us are guilty, not just the factory bosses.
I hear outside a million panicking birds, and know even out there comfort is done with; it has shattered even the stars, this creature at last come home to me.

The death toll has now risen to 397 with an estimated 600 still missing. Rescuers are now using heavy machinery to move debris and has given up hope of finding more people alive. The dead and missing totals almost 1000 people.

A tragedy of shocking proportions. But so little is the interest in developing countries in the media, that it's disappeared off the BBC headlines.

The death toll has now past 900 and there was another fire today that killed "only" eight people.
