    The pre-Sochi Olympics Team USA Media Summit is scheduled to take place Sept. 29-Oct. 2, 2013, in Park City, Utah: http://www.teamusa.org/Home/Road%20t...%20Summit.aspx

    I'm told there is no set, or published, criteria and that the USOC, not USFS, selects the athletes for these media events.

    In May 2009, the figure skaters that went to the media shoot in L.A. were:
    Czisny, Flatt, Zhang, Wagner, Nagasu (top 5 at 2009 Nationals) plus Sasha Cohen;
    Abbott, Mroz, Lysacek (top 3 at Nationals/World team) plus Weir (Bradley was 4th at Nationals but was not in L.A.); McLaughlin/Brubaker in pairs; Belbin/Agosto & Davis/White in dance.

    ETA Ashley Wagner's tweet:
    "Starting up my day for @NBCOlympics promo shoot! I have a crazy fun filled day and then straight back to tour"
    Here's a photo of her on the now familiar "mountains & ice" set: http://instagram.com/p/YiL1o7vngU/

    Wagner will be joined by Evan Lysacek and Caydee Denney/John Coughlin in L.A. today. As mentioned earlier, Max Aaron will be there on Friday.

    Jeremy needs to lose the glasses - he looks like he is ready for a chem test. Agnes is pretty and it's a good picture of Christina

    Totally shallow comment: I really wish Evan would shave off the scruff. That dark shadow makes his jaw recede and his nose look gigantic. He does look good in a suit though.
    I'd rather be thought of as absolutely ridiculous than as absolutely boring.

    How silly is the USOC going to feel when some of these skaters don't even make the team?

    They do this every olympic year with people who MIGHT make the team. Then they have those pictures available for future promotion when and if they need them. Not a big deal.

    I think they realize that some of these athletes will not make the Olympic team, especially since they have done the promo shoots for more single skaters than can actually qualify for the team ;-)

    Ummm...the fact that they've taken pics of at least four men when there are only two spots might suggest that....

    For dance and pairs we saw D/W, Shibs, and Denney/Coughlin only? I thought we might see Castelli/Shnapir.

    As usual, pairs and dance gets slighted. I wanted to see Chock/Bates in dance and C/S in pairs.

    I think it's great that Evan Lysacek finally showed up for a skating event! Too bad this one didn't involve any actual skating.

    I know it makes me mad too. I forgot about Chock/Bates. I guess the Shibs World bronze trumps their Nationals silver. And I guess they're not going from actual placements.
