    It is most hard to compare older skaters to ones now not due to technical demands being different but level of competition. People like Peggy Fleming, Sonja Henie, Dick Button were certain to win every year. They just had to show up and take the gold. They needed 10 falls to lose any event they were in, so how many times they won just meant how many times they decided to compete. It is hard to accurately compare that to today. Even at times people say the field is weak it is still an actual competition where you have to show up and skate well to win.
